This role sits within ABB's Robotics business, a leading global robotics company. We're entering an exciting new chapter as we’ve announced the plan for SoftBank Group to acquire ABB Robotics. SoftBank is a globally recognized technology group and investor/operator focused on AI, robotics, and next-generation computing. This role sits within ABB’s Robotics business, a global leader in industrial robotics. We are entering an exciting new phase with the planned acquisition by SoftBank Group, a technology leader in AI, robotics, and next-generation computing.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role within the ABB Robotics Global R&D Platform team, spanning both existing and next-generation systems. You will shape the evolution of electrical powertrain technologies for Industrial robots and mobile robots across the business offering. Working though out global R&D specialists and cross-functional teams, you will define technology direction, system architecture, and guide development across current and future platforms.

Core Responsibilities

  • Drive the evolution of electrical powertrain technologies for ABB Robotics mechatronics platforms, ensuring strong alignment with product and platform roadmaps
  • Contribute to shaping technology and product strategy, including research direction, roadmaps, system architecture, and intellectual property management
  • Lead development of technical standards support scalable and leading-performance solutions
  • Act as a senior technical reference both for engineering teams, customers and towards business management; supporting complex problem solving and collaboration across internal and external networks

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in mechatronics development, servo drive and motor control technologies
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical topics into clear and actionable insights
  • PhD in a relevant field, or equivalent experience from industrial research and development
