Job Description

Summary:

The Global Category Manager – Mechanical Components owns sourcing strategy and supplier performance for every mechanical part that goes into Tritium's charging and power products. That includes cabinets and sheet metal, machined and stamped parts, liquid-cooling and thermal management assemblies (hoses, fittings, cold plates), injection-molded plastics, and structural hardware.

This is a hands-on, build-and-execute role. You will set category strategy and also run the RFQs, visit the fabricators, and fix the late shipments. A near-term priority is developing a resilient North American supply base, including Mexico and regional U.S. fabricators, to cut cost and lead time, reduce tariff exposure, and support Buy America and domestic-content requirements.

The ideal candidate knows mechanical manufacturing processes in depth, negotiates well, and is comfortable working in a growing company where processes and systems (including our NetSuite MRP rollout) are still being built.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement category strategies for mechanical components to achieve cost savings and quality improvements.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends and opportunities within the mechanical components sector.
  • Manage supplier relationships, negotiating contracts and ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Lead supplier selection, RFQs, negotiations, contract management, and sourcing decisions for both new product introduction (NPI) and production programs.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to understand requirements and align sourcing strategies.
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Prepare and present reports on category performance and sourcing initiatives to senior management.
  • Lead cross-functional projects aimed at improving procurement processes and reducing lead times.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management with a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience sourcing mechanical components such as sheet metal fabrications, metal enclosures, machined parts, stamped components, plastics, or structured assemblies.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and procurement tools.
  • Proficient in data analysis and market research methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience collaborating with suppliers and teams across North America. EMEA, and APAC.
  • Familiarity with fabrication processes including CNC machining, metal stamping, welding powder coating, die casting, and injection molding.

Approximately 20% travel, including domestic and international supplier visits.
