Position Summary

The Global Strategic Marketing Director – Surgical Business Unit plays a critical role in shaping long-term growth by leading global strategy development, advancing front-end innovation (FEI), and supporting strategic mergers and acquisitions (M&A).

This leader works closely with global and regional portfolio teams, as well as cross-functional partners across R&D, Sales, Finance, Corporate Development, and Operations, to align on growth priorities and execute on Business Unit initiatives.

The primary responsibility of this role is to synthesize global market insights, customer needs, and evolving technology landscapes to identify, prioritize, and accelerate new growth opportunities. By translating these insights into actionable strategies, the Director ensures a strong, future-focused innovation pipeline and a competitive surgical portfolio.

This role is based in Morrisville, North Carolina.

Principal Responsibilities

Front-End Innovation (FEI) Marketing Leadership

• Lead front-end innovation, identifying & prioritizing high-value opportunities aligned to unmet clinical needs
• Translate customer insights into clear innovation briefs, value propositions, and product requirements
• Partner with R&D to guide concept development, prioritization, and stage-gate decision making
• Lead concept validation and prototype testing using qualitative and quantitative research methods

Strategic Growth & Portfolio Development

• Lead development of global growth strategies for the surgical business unit, identifying priority markets, segments, and adjacencies
• Conduct comprehensive market landscaping (TAM/SAM sizing, competitive dynamics, trends, & disruption signals)
• Serve as a key leader in the annual and long-range strategic planning process

Customer & Market Insights (VOC/MR)

• Establish and lead a robust Voice of Customer (VOC) and market research capability across global markets
• Synthesize insights from all stakeholders into actionable business and innovation strategies
• Monitor shifts in clinical practice, reimbursement, and care delivery models to inform strategy

Financial Modeling & Business Case Development

• Develop and own financial models (pro formas) for new products, markets, and strategic initiatives
• Evaluate investment trade-offs and ensure alignment with growth, margin, and ROI targets
• Partner with Finance and portfolio leaders on scenario planning and resource allocation

M&A and Strategic Partnerships

• Identify, screen, and prioritize M&A and partnership opportunities aligned with strategic growth areas
• Collaborate with Corporate Development and leadership for M&A roadmap

Performance Tracking & Governance

• Establish KPIs and dashboards to monitor portfolio health, innovation progress, and strategic initiative outcomes
• Provide regular updates to senior leadership on market trends, growth opportunities, and strategic recommendations
• Adhere to and ensure the adherence of Teleflex Code of Ethics, all Company policies, rules, procedures, and housekeeping standards

Education / Experience Requirements

• BA/BS degree is required, Master’s degree is prefered
• Prior people management experience is required
• Global experience prefered
• A minimum of 10-15 years of prior experience in strategic marketing and FEI

• Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to translate market, financial, and clinical insights into actionable business strategies.
• Excellent executive communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence diverse internal and external stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and align teams across a highly matrixed global organization.
• Works within approved budget, develops and implements cost saving measures and contributes to profits and revenue.
