035244 Global Standards and Regulatory Compliance Manager (Open)

Leads the development and maintenance of product standards for packaging specifications, materials, and labor to ensure compliance with all applicable customer, manufacturing, and regulatory requirements. Serves as a key technical resource for both internal and external stakeholders by providing accurate product information, including data sheets, compliance documentation, and certificates. Manages the regional Product Standards team while acting as a player-coach and subject matter expert, providing both leadership and hands-on support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Determines and defines key product characteristics/attributes and management of all local MDM fields that allow for the proper application of ERP item data throughout the purchasing, manufacturing and sales processes, while also taking into consideration company business intelligence requirements.
  • Assists with or directly maintains material and labor standards in product manuals and facility labor standards
  • Correctly applies material and labor standards during the creation of item BOM and routings.
  • Maintains product UN design details as they relate certified designs. Ensures that specifications comply with relevant standards (specifically UN and/or NMFC).
  • Reviews UN test requests to ensure compliance accuracy and correctness of submissions, manages test program workflow and generation/validation of final certification report. Ensures that all effective items strictly adhere to required designs and certifications.
  • Reviews items request to ensure compliance with product standards and regulatory requirements (NMFC and/or UN)
  • Maintains all records detailing initial product qualification and ongoing certification
  • Ensures application of management of change requirements prior to execution of new or modification of items. This is inclusive of requirements around food contact and UN regulations.
  • Provides training and support related to local master data, UN test workflow, and other regulatory compliance topics. Trains wider Product Standards team to fulfill all functions noted here.
  • Develops and maintains product data sheet templates to ensure accuracy to stated BOM’s and UN test designs (where applicable).
  • Processes technical product and regulatory compliance knowledge of all Greif products.
  • Periodically audits plant regulatory programs and contacts plant staff for review and remediation of discrepancies in ERP systems and other plant programs related to product compliance issues. Review plant item master data and conduct audits to ensure consistent data within and across plants.
  • Coordinates and/or conducts special projects as assigned. Serve on interdepartmental teams to implement changes to engineering data.
  • Travels to plant locations to collect data and provide user training and support.
  • Manages subset of Product Standards & Regulatory Compliance Team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Typically possesses a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and 3–5 years ERP experience including or Item maintenance experience.
  • Preferred 5+ years Greif packaging manufacturing, purchasing and/or plant administration with working knowledge of packaging products, good manufacturing practices and product regulatory requirements.


Knowledge & Skills

  • Demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects effectively.
  • Must be able to travel to locations.
  • Experience in managing master item data in an ERP application.
  • Knowledge and experience in creating and maintaining tools for analyzing and reporting on data such as databases and Microsoft excel.
