Global Sourcing Specialist II

The Global Sourcing Specialist II position is responsible for coordinating direct activities and individuals involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, advertising and other materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
  • Develop equipment and service schedules based on project forecasts, site need dates, documentation timelines, and new product development requirements.
  • Prepare, issue, and manage Requests for Proposal (RFPs) for power generation auxiliary systems, skids, and component procurements.
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers to maintain a strong supplier base.
  • Execute purchase orders through ERP systems (SAP preferred) and support major procurement activities, including capital equipment and new project sourcing.
  • Apply basic technical knowledge of gas and steam turbine auxiliary commodities; troubleshoot related equipment and procurement issues.
  • Review bid proposals, negotiate contracts within budget and authority limits, and manage contracts to ensure vendor compliance.
  • Maintain effective communication and information flow with all internal groups involved in fulfilling material demands.
  • Manage purchase orders with advanced scope, contractual requirements, and elevated commercial or financial risk.
  • Handle multiple quotes and orders simultaneously, prioritizing work based on schedule requirements.
  • Serve as the coordination point for procurement activities and perform a wide variety of tasks independently.
  • Investigate defective or unacceptable goods/services with quality, users, and vendors to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews focused on quality, delivery, and reliability; establish long‑term supplier agreements.
  • Support upper management in achieving corporate goals, objectives, and project requirements.
  • Perform domestic and international purchasing activities, including handling contracts valued at a minimum of $5 million annually.
  • Review and negotiate terms and conditions to meet company and project targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; or at least 3-5 years experience in purchasing or sourcing role.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presenting information to colleagues.
  • Proficient in calculating discounts, percentages, and basic geometric figures; comfortable applying basic algebra and geometry.
  • Able to interpret written, verbal, diagrammed, or scheduled instructions and adapt accordingly.
  • Proficient with email, word processing, spreadsheets, basic databases, ERP systems, and scheduling software.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 20%
