Job Description

Led by Rodolphe Saadé, the CMA CGM Group, a global leader in shipping and logistics, serves more than 420 ports around the world on five continents. With its subsidiary CEVA Logistics, a world leader in logistics, and its air freight division CMA CGM AIR CARGO, the CMA CGM Group is continually innovating to offer its customers a complete and increasingly efficient range of new shipping, land, air and logistics solutions.

Committed to the energy transition in shipping, and a pioneer in the use of alternative fuels, the CMA CGM Group has set a target to become Net Zero Carbon by 2050.

Through the CMA CGM Foundation, the Group acts in humanitarian crises that require an emergency response by mobilizing the Group’s shipping and logistics expertise to bring humanitarian supplies around the world.

Present in 160 countries through its network of more than 400 offices and 750 warehouses, the Group employs more than 155,000 people worldwide, including 4,000 in Marseilles where its head office is located.

YOUR ROLE

As part of your studies, you are currently looking for an end-of-studies or gap-year internship (Master’s level, business school or engineering school).

Around 90% of world trade travels by sea. Every day, CMA CGM ships millions of tons of goods across more than 200 shipping routes, connecting the world’s major economies. Each line has to be priced, steered and grown, and that is where you come in.

You will join Global Shipping Lines, the commercial heart of the Group. Reporting to the Line Manager, you will work on one of our trade lanes or specialized products: Africa, North America / Transpacific, Asia–Europe, Latin America, Mediterranean, Reefer, Project Cargo or Sensitive Cargo. You will play a real role in steering your area’s commercial performance and see first-hand how pricing decisions, market shifts and geopolitical events shape a global business. You will have real responsibility from day one, in an international environment. It is an ideal starting point for a career in commerce, strategy or international business, within a group present in more than 160 countries.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Pricing: You will analyze your area’s pricing policy and build recommendations with the Market Manager and the Line Manager.
  • Performance monitoring: You will monitor the line’s results, explain gaps against budget and propose corrective actions. You will produce regular performance reports and prepare materials for commercial meetings and steering committees.
  • Market intelligence: You will analyze market shares using industry databases (Dataliner, CTS), follow freight rates, capacity, competitors and market trends across your area, and run competitive and geopolitical intelligence.
  • Global network coordination: You will handle quotation requests and work with CMA CGM agents worldwide, as well as with the Customer Service, Reefer and OOG teams.
  • Strategic projects: You will take part in strategic projects such as vessel profiling, building the medium- and long-term pricing policy, and optimizing our pricing tool.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Education: Master’s student at a business school or engineering school (“Grande École”), for an end-of-studies or gap-year internship.
  • Profile: Either a commercial profile (a taste for negotiation and client relationships) or an analytical profile (comfortable with data and Excel; Power BI is a plus). No prior shipping experience required: we will teach you the business.
  • Technical skills: Strong analytical and synthesis skills.
  • Languages: Fluent professional English, written and spoken, is required. A second language (Arabic, Mandarin, Spanish or Portuguese) is a real asset.
  • Personal qualities: A genuine curiosity for international trade, economics and geopolitics; international experience is a real asset.

JOB ENVIRONMENT

  • Location: Head Office – Marseille
  • Duration: 6 months
  • Internship start date: January 2027, with flexibility depending on your school calendar
  • Internship agreement (convention de stage) required
