Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable professional to serve as Global Security Standards & Assurance Specialist within CyrusOne’s Security Data & Reporting team. This role is primarily responsible for supporting the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of security policies, procedures, standards, job aids, and related documentation that promote consistency, compliance, and operational discipline across CyrusOne’s global security program.
The Global Security Standards & Assurance Specialist will help translate operational practices, governance expectations, and subject matter expert input into clear, accurate, and usable documentation. This role also supports assurance-related activities by helping maintain document governance, monitoring adherence to established standards, supporting audit and compliance documentation, and contributing to reporting and follow-through tied to policy, procedure, and control-related requirements.
Working closely with Security leadership, operational stakeholders, and cross-functional partners, this role plays an important part in strengthening documentation quality, governance consistency, audit readiness, and stakeholder communication. The position contributes to broader Security Data & Reporting priorities as needed, while maintaining a primary focus on standards, procedures, and assurance support.
Responsibilities:
Standards, Policies & Procedures:
- Draft, edit, format, and maintain security policies, procedures, standards, playbooks, templates, job aids, and related operating documentation.
- Translate operational workflows, governance expectations, and subject matter expert input into clear, structured, and user-friendly written content.
- Support the development and maintenance of global security data policies and procedures in alignment with departmental expectations and established standards.
- Review and revise documentation to improve clarity, consistency, usability, and alignment with current business and operating requirements.
- Help standardize language, formatting, versioning, and document structure across security materials.
- Identify documentation gaps, outdated materials, or inconsistencies and support remediation through updates and coordination with stakeholders.
- Support development of new documentation tied to process improvements, operating changes, security initiatives, and program needs.
Assurance, Governance & Compliance Support:
- Support governance and assurance activities related to security standards, documentation, and reporting requirements.
- Monitor adherence to established policies, procedures, and best practices, and escalate gaps or inconsistencies through appropriate channels.
- Maintain documentation inventories, review schedules, approval tracking, version histories, and related governance records.
- Support preparation of audit documentation, evidence packages, compliance trackers, and related assurance materials.
- Help track follow-up actions, remediation items, and documentation updates associated with audits, reviews, or governance activities.
- Maintain organized, accessible, and audit-ready records that support compliance, control discipline, and operational accountability.
- Assist with policy adoption tracking, review completion status, and related governance follow-through.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:
- Work closely with Global Physical Security, Data Center Operations, Compliance, EHS, Legal, Human Resources, Global Service Desk, Technology and other stakeholders to gather input and validate documentation content.
- Prepare clear, concise reports, updates, presentations, and supporting materials for leadership, governance forums, audits, and stakeholder discussions.
- Respond to stakeholder inquiries related to documentation, standards, reporting inputs, and governance materials in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinate follow-ups, meetings, review cycles, and cross-functional input needed to complete documentation and assurance deliverables.
- Support a disciplined and collaborative working model that reinforces clear ownership, responsive communication, and measurable follow-through.
Qualifications:
- 2–4 years of experience in technical writing, documentation governance, policy/procedure development, compliance support, audit support, reporting support, or a related field.
- Experience drafting, editing, organizing, or maintaining policies, procedures, standards, playbooks, job aids, or other operational documentation.
- Strong writing, editing, formatting, and document quality skills, with the ability to make complex information clear and usable.
- Ability to translate subject matter expert input into accurate, structured, and easy-to-follow written content.
- Strong organization, version control, and follow-up discipline across multiple documentation and governance priorities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Experience supporting document governance, audit preparation, compliance tracking, or assurance-related activities is preferred.
- Familiarity with security operations, physical security, data center operations, critical environments, or related operational settings is preferred.
- Experience working with document repositories, collaboration platforms, trackers, and reporting or workflow tools is preferred.
- Occasional travel may be required, up to 15%, based on business needs.
Education / Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Business, Criminal Justice, Security Management, Information Systems, Emergency Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant experience in technical writing, policy development, military, law enforcement, compliance, or operational documentation may be considered in lieu of a degree where appropriate.
- Certifications related to technical writing, governance, compliance, security, or project coordination are a plus but not required.
