Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will join ABB's Industrial Automation Digital Organization as a Global SaaS Operations Architect, where you will define and govern the operational architecture for enterprise-scale SaaS platforms deployed across Azure cloud, on-premises, and edge environments. You will establish operational standards, platform reliability practices, observability strategies, and deployment governance to ensure secure, scalable, and highly available services. Working closely with Platform Engineering, DevSecOps, Security, Infrastructure, and Product Engineering teams, you will drive operational excellence and continuous platform modernization.

This role is contributing to the Process Automation Business in Bangalore, India.

You will be mainly accountable for

  • Define and govern operational architecture, deployment standards, and operational readiness frameworks for hybrid SaaS platforms across Azure cloud, on-premises, and edge environments.
  • Drive platform reliability and operational excellence by establishing observability strategies, resilience patterns, capacity planning, automation, and standardized operational processes for deployments, upgrades, monitoring, and disaster recovery.
  • Collaborate with Platform Engineering, DevSecOps, Security, Infrastructure, and Product Engineering teams to ensure platform operations align with security, compliance, scalability, performance, and cost optimization objectives.
  • Provide architectural leadership for hybrid deployments, Kubernetes platforms, customer onboarding, and operational governance while driving continuous improvements through reusable standards, architecture guidance, and operational best practices.

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline. Relevant Azure, Kubernetes, or cloud architecture certifications are an advantage.
  • 10–15 years of experience in SaaS operations, cloud platform architecture, or enterprise operations, with strong exposure to large-scale hybrid cloud environments.
  • Proven expertise in Azure cloud, Kubernetes platforms (AKS, OpenShift, K3s, MicroK8s), hybrid deployments, platform operations, and operational architecture governance.
  • Strong experience with observability, monitoring, logging, automation, and CI/CD practices using technologies such as Azure Monitor, Grafana, Log Analytics, Splunk, Azure DevOps, GitHub, and Helm.
  • Good understanding of hybrid edge computing, industrial connectivity technologies (MQTT, OPC UA), identity and security services (Entra ID, Key Vault), and infrastructure reliability practices.
  • Experience with enterprise data platforms including Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Databricks, CrateDB, and operational data integration patterns.
  • Excellent analytical, stakeholder management, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across global engineering, operations, infrastructure, security, and product teams.
