The opportunity
Hitachi Energy is looking for a motivated Power Converter Product Specialist to support the development and evolution of power conversion products used in utility‑scale PV, BESS and hybrid energy systems.
This role is ideal for an early‑to‑mid career professional with a strong technical foundation in power electronics who is looking to grow into a broader product management or technical leadership role. You will act as a bridge between market needs, system applications and R&D, contributing directly to the definition and successful delivery of competitive power converter solutions.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
Support application‑driven product development for power converters in PV, battery energy storage and hybrid systems
Translate customer and application needs into clear product requirements and preliminary technical specifications
Contribute to product roadmaps through analysis of market trends, system architectures, performance and cost drivers
Collect, structure and benchmark market and customer requirements versus competitor and emerging solutions
Identify gaps between current products and future application needs
Prepare preliminary product specifications and provide clear design input to R&D (use cases, constraints, operating envelopes)
Contribute to validation, industrialization, and lifecycle improvements by reviewing tests, changes and compliance
Collaborate cross‑functionally with R&D, sales, manufacturing and supply chain, supporting knowledge sharing and training
Your Background
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, preferably with a focus on Power Electronics or Power Systems
2–5 years of experience in power electronics, converters, inverters, or system engineering, ideally in renewable energy or BESS
Good understanding of power converter topologies, control principles, and system‑level interactions
Familiarity with grid‑connected applications (PV, BESS, hybrid plants) is a strong advantage
Basic experience with simulation tools (e.g., PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS) or test environments is a plus
Structured mindset with the ability to turn technical information into clear requirements
Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate in cross‑functional, international teams
Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus
