This job is responsible for defining and leading the engineering approach for complex features to deliver significant business outcomes. Key responsibilities of the job include delivering complex features and technology, enabling development efficiencies, providing technical thought leadership based on conducting multiple software implementations, and applying both depth and breadth in a number of technical competencies. Additionally, this job is accountable for end-to-end solution design and delivery.
In Global Payments, the Senior Engineer serves as a senior technical leader responsible for delivering strategic platform modernization and engineering initiatives that enable critical payment processing capabilities across the enterprise. This role leads the design, architecture, and implementation of scalable, resilient, and secure payment orchestration solutions supporting regulatory, client, and business growth objectives. The individual partners closely with product managers, architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to define and deliver technology solutions that align with the Global Payments strategy and roadmap.
This role provides technical thought leadership for cloud-native application development, platform engineering, and enterprise architecture, leveraging modern technologies including Java, Spring Boot, OpenShift, Kubernetes, and DevOps automation practices. The Senior Engineer is responsible for evaluating emerging technologies, establishing engineering standards, driving best practices, and enabling teams to deliver high-quality solutions through CI/CD, automation, observability, and Infrastructure-as-Code capabilities.
As a recognized technical expert, this individual leads complex engineering efforts across multiple teams, guides solution design decisions, and ensures applications meet security, resiliency, performance, and operational excellence requirements. The role partners with technology and business leaders to solve complex challenges, manage technical risk, and deliver innovative solutions that improve platform reliability, scalability, and time-to-market.
The successful candidate will possess deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices architecture, cloud platforms, container technologies, and software engineering best practices, along with a strong understanding of payment systems and enterprise-scale technology delivery. This role also plays a key part in mentoring engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and advancing engineering excellence across the organization.
