Job Description
β‘οΈ About the role
Successful businesses think globally β but complex compliance challenges create significant barriers to global operations, forcing teams to spend vast amounts of time, money, and energy on administration instead of strategic priorities.
Traditional compliance approaches are too slow, vague, and expensive for modern business dynamics. That's why we've built the platform that automates compliance and duty of care for business travel, workations, and international assignments.
Our vision: A world where global business knows no borders β where compliance is effortless, so growth has no limits.
Your role in this mission: We're seeking an experienced Global Mobility Compliance Specialist to own the APAC region. You'll translate tax, payroll, social security, employment law, and immigration requirements across APAC's diverse markets into practical frameworks that power our compliance automation platform - and you'll build the on-the-ground network of local partners that makes fast, compliant execution possible across such a fragmented regulatory landscape.
This is a hybrid subject-matter-expert and relationship-building role: half regulatory translation and product logic, half building and managing a trusted bench of local experts across markets like Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, China, Australia, and India. We'd like this person based centrally in the region - Singapore or Kuala Lumpur are ideal - to make time zone overlap and travel across APAC practical.
π― What you will do
- Translate tax, payroll, social security, employment law, and immigration requirements across key APAC markets into practical compliance frameworks and decision logic for WorkFlex's platform
- Apply hands-on knowledge of APAC work authorization regimes β e.g. Singapore Employment Pass/S Pass, Malaysia Employment Pass, Japan work visas, China work permits, Australia's skilled visa categories β and cross-border assignment rules across the region
- Map assignment-related compliance topics: social security schemes and totalization/bilateral agreements (CPF, EPF, superannuation, and equivalents), payroll and tax residency triggers, and short-term business traveller risk across APAC jurisdictions
- Build and validate cost projections and balance-sheet approaches for APAC-based assignments
- Build, vet, and manage a network of local partners across the region β immigration lawyers, tax advisors, payroll providers, and EOR/PEO partners β to support compliant, fast assignment execution across APAC's fragmented regulatory environment
- Act as the go-to APAC compliance expert for clients and internal teams, keeping guidance current with fast-moving regulatory change across multiple jurisdictions
- Continuously refine WorkFlex's automated global mobility processes based on regulatory updates and partner network feedback
β What you need to succeed
- 3+ years in Global Mobility, APAC immigration/tax compliance, or international HR, with hands-on assignment experience from a policy, compliance, analytics, or process perspective
- Working knowledge of work authorization and payroll/tax rules across multiple APAC markets; deep expertise in Singapore and/or Malaysia is a strong plus given the regional base
- A track record of building and managing relationships with external partners or vendors β you know how to vet a good immigration lawyer or payroll provider in a new market and keep the relationship productive
- Strong analytical skills and a genuine interest in automation and systems thinking
- Fluent English; Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia, or Japanese a plus given the regional scope
- A structured, independent working style with an ownership mentality, comfortable balancing accuracy, pragmatism, and speed in a client-facing environment
- Based centrally in APAC (Singapore or Kuala Lumpur preferred) with willingness to travel within the region as needed.
