The Global Medical Director will provide medical leadership for medical affairs strategy, planning and supportive tactics for assigned therapeutic area. Under VP, Head of Neurology Global Medical Affairs, this role will be responsible for working with key stakeholders to develop and execute the medical affairs strategy and priorities, including short team as well as long term plans. Provide strategic development, planning, implementation, Scientific & Clinical competitive intelligence, and landscape analysis related to Alzheimer’s Disease (AD), for both approved and pipeline assets.

The Medical Director will utilize expert medical/scientific knowledge in AD area to provide strategic input for the development of product strategies and liaise with external and internal stakeholders and strengthen Eisai’s medical reputation in the AD community.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze medical engagement and scientific data to identify patterns, competitive intelligence, and unmet needs
  • Ensure Medical Affairs has a forward‑looking understanding of competitive signals that impact evidence generation, launch readiness, and scientific positioning.
  • Incorporate insights from scientific trends and treatment landscape by participating in external/internal events and activities, utilizing insights data and translating insights into global strategies and execution plans.
  • Develop and implement global medical strategy for approved and pipeline assets, and provide critical medical input into the lifecycle management strategies in AD.
  • Work with regional Medical Directors to advise on strategic implications of emergent scientific, clinical, and external trends. Engage and collaborate with regions to understand local landscapes, regional needs and incorporate insights into longer term global strategies.
  • Ensure critical insights reach regional & global medical affairs teams, and executive leadership with clarity and actionable recommendations.
  • Work with key internal stakeholders to support development and communication of medical plans and track progress for reporting.
  • Serve as a medical expert to provide direction on key internal business processes for both approved and pipeline AD assets.
  • Serve as a medical leader and subject matter expert for relevant external (HCPs, strategic alliances etc.) and internal stakeholders.
  • Work with scientific communication team to ensure global IIS strategies in place and review IIS proposals in conjunction with the policies.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders to solicit feedback and strengthen Eisai’s medical reputation in the AD community.


Qualifications:

  • PhD, MD, or PharmD with 5+ years of relevant experience. Experience in Life Sciences industry preferred.
  • Advanced degree in sciences or related field with substantial experience in the pharma/biotech industry
  • OR a combination of equivalent education, deep subject matter expertise in relevant areas along with a broad overall experience.
  • Preferred experience in the AD area including in an in-house Medical Affairs role in a strategic decision-making capacity.
  • Ability to translate complex scientific outputs into strategic recommendations in collaboration with clinical development/operation team.
  • Proven ability to lead in complex, matrixed, multinational environments with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in global medical affairs roles with cross-regional responsibility for product launch and/or lifecycle management
  • Deep understanding of the drug development lifecycle, robust experience in evidence generation,
  • Practical knowledge of FDA regulations/ICH guidelines regarding conduct of clinical studies in relevant therapeutic areas.

Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) and 10+ years of relevant experience.

Eisai Salary Transparency Language:

The annual base salary range for the Global Medical Director, Alzheimer’s Disease is from :$217,000-$284,800Under current guidelines, this position is eligible to participate in : Eisai Inc. Annual Incentive Plan & Eisai Inc. Long Term Incentive Plan.

Final pay determinations will depend on various factors including but not limited to experience level, education, knowledge, and skills.
