Job Title: Global Master Data Expert
Location: Barcelona
Global Master Data Expert's core mission is to execute data governance activities across the whole Galderma's organization for the data scope within her/his remit. This includes data related activities from data definitions, data flow management through different systems, data owners, users and data consumers support cross organization, supervision of data quality and execution of data governance processes.
Key Responsibilities:
User Support & Data Governance Execution
- Support the implementation of the data governance roadmap.
- Act as first-line support for Global Product Master Data, addressing data quality queries and issues.
- Collaborate with business and functional area owners to enhance the data quality and value of core data assets.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date training materials. Deliver training sessions as required.
- Contribute to communication strategies that promote company-wide awareness of proper data management practices.
Data Quality Assurance
- Define data standards and practices in alignment with impacted functions to ensure completeness, consistency and accuracy of data.
- Contribute to the development of performance indicators and data quality metrics.
Data Dictionary Management
- Create and maintain a centralized enterprise data dictionary with clear definitions, business rules, and usage guidelines.
- Ensure alignment between technical and business terminology.
- Establish processes for capturing and maintaining metadata related to product master data entities.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to manage updates and communicate changes effectively.
- Provide guidance and training to teams using the data dictionary.
- Act as a point of contact for clarifications and best practices.
Data Change Management & Improvement
- Supervise and coordinate data-related change requests, ensuring alignment with stakeholders on prioritization, solution design, and implementation.
- Analyze the impact of proposed data changes on upstream and downstream systems, processes, and reporting.
- Identify recurring issues or inefficiencies in data change processes and propose enhancements.
- Implement best practices for reducing cycle time and improving data quality during changes.
- Develop clear communication plans for informing stakeholders about upcoming changes, timelines, and expected impacts.
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and business users during change implementation.
- Oversee testing of data changes to ensure accuracy and integrity before deployment.
Critical skills / competences:
- Strong data analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets, identify trends, and provide actionable insights for data quality and governance improvement.
- Attention to detail.
- Proven ability to perform root cause analysis on data issues, identifying underlying problems and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of data quality metrics and performance indicators.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); additional languages are an asset.
Required education / experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in fields such as Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science. Master’s degree is a plus.
- 3-5 years of solid experience in Master Data Management, Product Data Management, Data Governance, Supply Chain or related roles (e.g., MDM, SAP MDG, Data Quality management).
- Solid understanding of data models, data dictionaries and enterprise data architecture.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.), MDM platforms (e.g., Informatica) and familiarity with data governance frameworks.
- SQL knowledge for querying, validating, and analyzing data across systems.
- Experience with data visualization or analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional initiatives and collaborate with senior stakeholders (e.g., Global Teams, IT, Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance).
- Proficiency in metadata management and data governance tools.
Key success criteria:
- Establish and maintain consistent product master data standards across all regions and systems.
- Achieve and sustain high levels of accuracy, completeness and consistency rates for critical data elements.
- Ensure stakeholders follow governance processes with clear accountability for data ownership.
- Reduce cycle times and manual interventions through automation, standardized workflows, and best practices.
- Deliver responsive support and clear communication, ensuring high adoption and positive feedback from business users.
