Job Description

We are seeking a highly analytical Logistics Analyst to support transportation and supply chain operations through data-driven insights. This role focuses on using SQL-based analysis, AI-enabled analytics, and clear data visualizations to improve transportation performance, control costs, and support day-to-day logistics decision-making. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with a practical understanding of transportation operations and carrier management

Logistics & Transportation Support

  • Support daily and strategic transportation operations by analyzing shipment data, carrier performance, service levels, and costs.

  • Assist transportation, sourcing, and operations teams with lane analysis, carrier comparisons, and modal trade-off decisions

  • Monitor and report on key transportation KPIs such as on-time delivery, transit time variability, accessorials, and cost per shipment.

  • Provide analytical support for carrier bids, contract review, claims trends, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Help identify and explain transportation issues (delays, cost spikes, service failures) and support root cause analysis.

Data Analysis & SQ

  • Use SQL to extract, combine, and analyze data from transportation, warehouse, and ERP systems.

  • Perform ad-hoc and recurring analysis to support transportation planning, budgeting, and performance management.

  • Maintain and improve existing datasets and reports to ensure data accuracy and usability for logistics teams.

AI & Advanced Analytics (Applied, Not Experimental)

  • Apply predictive and statistical techniques to support forecasting, risk identification, and trend analysis in transportation and logistics.

  • Use AI-enabled tools to help identify anomalies, recurring issues, or improvement opportunities within large logistics datasets.

  • Partner with operations and IT teams to apply analytics in practical, business-relevant ways rather than theoretical models.

Data Visualization & Reporting

  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports (Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent) that provide visibility into transportation and logistics performance.

  • Present insights in a clear, business-friendly way for logistics managers, sourcing, and leadership audiences.

  • Enable self-service reporting by documenting metrics, assumptions, and data sources.

Process Improvement & Collaboration

  • Identify opportunities to improve transportation efficiency, cost control, and service reliability through data-backed insights.

  • Work cross-functionally with transportation, warehouse, finance, and IT teams to support logistics initiatives.

  • Contribute to standardization of logistics metrics, reporting, and analytical best practices.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, or a related field

  • Strong working knowledge of SQL for analysis and reporting (queries, joins, aggregations).

  • Experience building dashboards or reports using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.

  • Understanding of transportation operations, including carriers, modes, lanes, and basic cost drivers.

  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to translate data into actionable logistics insights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting transportation teams or freight-related analytics (air, ocean, truckload, LTL, parcel).

  • Exposure to AI, predictive analytics, or automation tools in a business or operational context.

  • Familiarity with TMS, WMS, or ERP systems.

  • Strong communication skills and comfort working with both data and operations teams.

What Success Looks Like

  • Transportation teams have clear visibility into cost, service, and performance trends

  • Carrier and lane decisions are supported by accurate, trusted data.

  • Logistics issues are identified earlier and explained clearly using analytics.

  • Dashboards and reports are actively used by operations—not just created.
