The Global IT Business Engagement Manager supports and executes gategroup’s IT business strategy for assigned functional areas, acting as a key IT contact for the business. The role promotes IT services and delivers technology solutions aligned with functional needs, serving as a liaison between global and local functions and IT. It facilitates technology strategy alignment, solution discovery, service delivery, risk management, and relationship management.

The role works closely with functional leaders to identify initiatives and priorities in line with internal governance. It oversees the investment intake process and supports the planning and implementation of technology-driven business initiatives, ensuring alignment with global IT standards and the achievement of business objectives.

This position is assigned to support gategroup's Operations function and the gatehorizon initiative

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create and manage strategic technology delivery roadmaps and provide Delivery Assurance oversight of the implementations within their portfolio.

  • Develop and maintain a strong collaborative working relationship with senior customer function management.

  • Support business roadmap development for cost analysis, prioritization, and investment approval.

  • Collaborate with global and regional management to develop annual IT budgets.

  • Reinforce IT solution concepts and support business cases for new IT investments.

  • Analyze the Group Operations and gatehorizon initiative requirements and recommend solutions to meet needs.

  • Ensure definition of effective business requirements relating to technology initiatives

  • Develop fact-based recommendations from analysis to present to senior management.

  • Serve as the key liaison between IT and the Group Operations function, as well as the gatehorizon initiative within their portfolio.

  • Utilize broad technical and business knowledge to coordinate team members and resources.

  • Utilize effective negotiation and influencing skills to achieve alignment on scope, priorities, and delivery of technology initiatives

  • Create a shared vision for solutions for their customers, facilitating decision-making and trade-off arbitration.

  • Identify and evaluate new solution opportunities for internal and external customer needs.

  • Partner with key business and technical staff to create strategic business plans.

  • Ensure solution compatibility with company standards by collaborating with architectural, security, and operational teams.

  • Work with their business stakeholders to manage business priorities and increasing demand for IT resources.

  • Understand IT's role in supporting business priorities and the realistic service levels given budgets.

  • Act as an escalation point for critical IT service issues and balance service costs with business demands.

Core Competencies and Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering (industrial systems, automation, chemical, robotics or similar), or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems, Management, or a related discipline preferred

Work Experience

  • 10+ years of combined experience in technology-enabled business, operations or IT environments within a complex organizational environment.

  • Proven experience in leading and influencing cross-functional teams and initiatives, with accountability for delivery outcomes.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing strategic plans and/or managing project and technology portfolios.

  • 5+ years of experience at a business management level within a large-scale, complex operational environment (e.g. culinary, catering, logistics, manufacturing, pharma, or comparable industries).

Technical Skills

  • Solid understanding of ITIL processes and IT service management principles

  • Broad (general) knowledge of enterprise IT service delivery concepts, standards, technologies, tools, and services

  • Sound knowledge of applications and technologies supporting operational, process-driven, and performance-focused business processes

  • General understanding of enterprise application landscapes and integration concepts supporting operational and transformation initiatives

Language Skills

  • Excellent English skills; additional major languages are an advantage

Execution & Delivery Discipline Ensures structured execution of technology initiatives, balancing operational stability, standardization, and innovation to meet evolving business needs.

Influence & Decision Facilitation: Effectively influences, negotiates, and facilitates decision-making across business and IT stakeholders to achieve alignment and manage trade-offs.
