Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a Global Intelligence Intern to join our Global Intelligence Department in Cape Town, South Africa. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in intelligence analysis and the Intelligence Cycle within a dynamic, global environment.
The successful candidate will support the development and enhancement of intrinsic intelligence products while building foundational knowledge of intelligence processes, data interpretation, and analytical skills
Please note: Only candidates currently based in Cape Town will be considered for this opportunity. Applications from candidates outside of Cape Town will not be considered.
What You Will Work On
In this role, you will contribute to the development, refinement, and maintenance of core intrinsic intelligence datasets, including:
• Language, cultural, financial, and socioeconomic intelligence
• Emergency contact and response information
• Security, health, and environmental risk data
• Communication infrastructure and regional contextual insights
You will also:
• Support data collection efforts under the guidance of the Collections and Source Lead
• Transform existing datasets into structured intelligence modules
• Assist in producing clear, accurate, and actionable intelligence outputs
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of intelligence quality and consistency
Who We Are Looking For
Education Requirements:
Candidates must have completed an undergraduate degree and be currently enrolled in, or planning to enrol in, an Honours or Master’s programme in Political Science, International Relations, or a related discipline
Experience:
• Strong interest or exposure to data, research, or analytical work
• Any experience in safety, security, risk management, or geopolitical/international affairs is advantageous
Skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong ability to interpret and simplify complex information for different audiences
• High attention to detail and accuracy in written outputs
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook)
• Strong research skills using open-source intelligence (web-based, academic, and institutional sources)
Work Environment
• Office-based role with extended computer use
• Periods of focused independent work combined with cross-functional collaboration
