Job Description

Albemarle is hiring for a Global Indirect Tax Manager. This position is located at our Budapest shared service location, in-office and located in Budapest, Hungary.

What You Will Do

  • Compliance Management - Oversee the end-to-end indirect tax compliance process, including preparation, review, and filing of tax returns across domestic and international jurisdictions.
  • Team Leadership- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of indirect tax professionals, fostering collaboration and performance excellence.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work with finance, legal, IT, procurement, supply chain and accounts payable teams to integrate tax considerations into business processes.
  • Technology & Systems - Maintain and configure indirect tax engines (ex. OneSource) to ensure accurate tax calculations and reporting along with interfacing with current ERP system (SAP).
  • Tax Planning - Develop and implement strategies to reduce indirect tax liabilities, improve cash flow, and support business objectives
  • Research & Analysis - Interpret and apply complex tax laws, regulations, and court rulings to guide operational decisions.
  • Audit Defense - Serve as the primary point of contact for audits from federal, state, local, and foreign tax authorities, manage information requests, and settlements

What You Bring

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree: Business, Accounting, Finance, or relevant fields
  • 8+ years of experience of global VAT experience in an international environment (in house, multi-global companies, consulting firms, etc....).
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of VAT or its equivalent depending on the region. Good understanding of VAT determination logic in ERP systems (preferably SAP) and any corresponding VAT automation solutions such as invoicing and reporting.

Preferred:

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with both internal and external teams.
  • Able to be proactive and take ownership of difficult situations and provide solutions.
  • Fluent in English. Additional languages are a plus.
