Job Description

Drive smarter, faster decisions where risk, returns, and scarce balance sheet meet. As a Margin Trading Associate within Prime Financial Services in New York, you will partner with clients and internal stakeholders to strengthen risk management, improve pricing discipline, and optimize allocation of capital and liquidity to the opportunities that matter most.

Margin Trading is a front office, client-facing function within Prime Financial Services focused on improving how the business allocates scarce financial resources to optimize risk-adjusted returns. In this role, you will evaluate risk-versus-return across client portfolios and opportunities, price financing and commissions in line with risk appetite and commercial objectives, build tools that accelerate pricing and profitability decisions, and support negotiation of key trading and margin agreements. Your analysis will directly influence client strategy, risk outcomes, and profitability.

Job responsibilities

  • Analyze client portfolios to identify, quantify, and address risk exposures and concentration risks.
  • Assess risk-versus-return profiles for existing and prospective client activity to inform go/no-go and sizing decisions.
  • Price client flows, including financing and commissions, aligned to risk appetite, funding constraints, and commercial goals.
  • Build and enhance pricing and profitability tools to accelerate new pricing and re-pricing decisions.
  • Maintain active client engagement on margin methodologies, pricing outcomes, and profitability drivers.
  • Review stress scenarios and valuation sensitivities to calibrate appropriate haircuts and margin requirements.
  • Partner with Legal and internal stakeholders to support negotiation of prime brokerage and related trading documentation, and drive product and infrastructure enhancements.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience in financial markets in a comparable role (sell-side or buy-side), including pricing and/or financial resource and balance sheet management.
  • Strong understanding of prime brokerage funding models, funding markets, and linkages to scarce resources including capital and liquidity.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management and financial markets, including Prime Brokerage, Clearing, Derivatives, Risk, and Collateral Management.
  • Proficiency in Python and ability to build Tableau screens independently.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex exposures into actionable recommendations.
  • Team-oriented, with strong relationship-building skills and clear written and verbal communication.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience in intraday risk management for post-trade execution.
