YWCA Global Education Ambassador (Contractor hourly role)

Are you passionate about empowering children and celebrating global cultures?
Do you want to make a difference in your community by teaching important values like empathy, inclusion, and curiosity?

Join Us as a Global Education Ambassador!

The YWCA South Florida Global Education Program brings creative, culturally rich, and literacy-boosting experiences to children in afterschool and summer programs. Our goal is to help students become compassionate global citizens — through books, hands-on projects, games, and inclusive conversations.
We’re looking for energetic, reliable, and creative Ambassadors to teach our pre-designed weekly lessons. You’ll work at one or more local sites (e.g., Hialeah, John Dupuis, South Miami Heights), teaching in small group rotations, with support from the site’s counselors.

What You'll Do

- Lead Global Education activities for students (Grades K–5) 2–3.5 hours/day.
- Deliver lessons that include reading, discussions, hands-on projects, games, and cultural exploration.
- Support students’ social-emotional learning, literacy, teamwork, and global thinking.
- Communicate with the Global Education Manager and attend weekly check-ins or curriculum meetings.
- Collaborate with counselors and site staff to ensure smooth sessions.
- Help track participation and offer feedback.
- A typical day might include rotating through three small groups (K–1st, 2nd–3rd, 4th–5th) with engaging 45-minute lessons that utilize books, games, and creative projects.

What We're Looking For

- Friendly, clear communicators who love working with kids.
- Commitment to cultural awareness, equity, and inclusion.
- Comfortable leading reading and activities with elementary-aged students.
- Available between 2:30–6:00 PM, Monday–Friday (afterschool hours).
- Willing to travel to Miami-Dade partner school sites.
- Teaching certification is not required, though a college degree and experience working with youth are strongly preferred.

Preferred but not required:
- Experience in teaching, camps, youth programs, SEL, or literacy.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus!
- College students or graduates in education, social work, psychology, or related fields.

Contract Details

- Hourly rate: $23/hour
- Part-time: 2–3.5 hours per day, up to 18 hours/week.
- Location: Hialeah, South Miami, John Dupuis Elementary, etc.
- Commitment: Now through the school year, with the option to renew for summer.
- Requirements: Background check and drug test clearance.

You’ll receive:
- Training on our curriculum and delivery approach.
- Access to professional growth opportunities through YWCA’s Office of Race & Gender Equity.
