Job Description

KLDiscovery, one of the largest national eDiscovery providers, is currently seeking a Data Center Maintenance Operations Technician to support our corporate business systems across all global sites company wide.

The position will report to the Manager of Data Center Operations and has is responsible for the independent planning, analysis, and administration of data center infrastructure, building related infrastructure, and physical security systems, to ensure continuous global operations and maintaining company polices. This role exercises discretion and independent judgment in evaluating infrastructure performance, recommending solutions, and determining courses of action for complex operational issues.

The position functions with minimal supervision and is expected to proactively identify risks, drive process improvements, and make decisions that directly impact system availability and business continuity. Expected salary: $29-35/hr (60-75,000 USD per annum)

Responsibilities

  • Commitment to excellence, attention to detail and organizational skills are critical components for this job. Flexibility and responsiveness to changing situations will be required.
  •  Independently evaluate, prioritize, and resolve infrastructure service issues, applying professional judgment to determine appropriate solutions and escalation paths.
  •  Serves as a subject matter expert in diagnosing complex infrastructure problems; independently determines and implements corrective action in time-sensitive environments.
  • Ability to follow polices and best practices when Installing servers and network equipment into cabinets and racks, while maintaining all required documentation and records.
  • CAT6, single-mode, and multi-mode fiber cabling installations and suppor.
  • Ability to asses cabinet power load and consumption measurements, to maintain balanced power distribution and operational safety requirements.
  • Managing Inventory control for servers, components and cables using DCIM software.
  • Manages work intake, prioritization, and resolution tracking through ticketing system, exercising judgment in assigning urgency and determining resolution approaches.
  • Handling lifecycle process of IT and infrastructure devices. Such as planning and coordination of equipment migrations, new equipment installations, and following proper disposal of unused equipment.
  •  Authors and maintains authoritative operational standards, best practices, and procedural documentation that govern data center operations, building infrastructure support, and physical security.
  • Leads and manages infrastructure projects from initiation through completion, exercising independent judgment on scope, approach, and sequencing.
  • Handling of logistics as needed, to support global operations and IT related support.
  • Monitor and maintain all Power sources that are part of the Data Center Operations Globally and all Global IT Office locations.
  • Understanding of cable plant designs and fundamental of various category (CAT) cabling standards and fiber cabling from a patching needs and requirement. Understanding of structured cabling systems.
  • Security Systems Monitoring and Maintenance.
  •  Provides after-hours infrastructure support as a subject matter resource; independently assesses and resolves escalated incidents in a team rotation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two - three years of working experience in data center facilities and infrastructure including power, cabling, and rack management design.
  • High school diploma required.  Post-secondary education in Information Technology or a related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of networking, server and cable hardware.
  • Experienced with customer interaction and relations.
  • Experienced with vendor relations on a professional level.
  • Very organized and detail oriented, with high degree of accuracy and follow-up.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (MS Office experience).
  • Self-motivated, reliable team player.
  • Ability to work in collaborative high-pressure environment.
  • Must possess desire to learn new technologies.
  • Consistently work to enhance system performance and systems availability.
  • Preferred knowledge of ERP systems to generate purchase orders and manage invoices.
  • May require working in cramped spaces or elevated locations.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Driver’s license and reliable transportation (travel between office locations required).
  • Requires general understanding of building electrical and mechanical systems supporting the data center operations. Licensed electrician a plus.
