The opportunity:

Join Grant Thornton's Global Compliance and Reporting Services (GCRS) team and build your career in an international, client-focused environment. As an Assistant Manager, you will work closely with experienced managers and senior colleagues, as well as finance professionals in publicly listed companies and multinational organisations.

You will support clients as they respond to increasingly complex and geographically diverse accounting and reporting requirements. Working within our Financial Accounting and Advisory Services (FAAS) team, you will use your Spanish GAAP expertise to deliver practical solutions, contribute to high-quality financial reporting and develop your experience through challenging international engagements.

This cross-sector role is suited to candidates from either industry or a professional practice environment who are keen to broaden their technical expertise, strengthen their client relationships and gain exposure to multinational organisations.

What you will do:

• Deliver international compliance engagements, with a particular focus on Spanish GAAP accounting and both direct and indirect tax requirements;
• Apply your Spanish GAAP expertise to convert US GAAP or IFRS trial balances and prepare financial statements that meet applicable Spanish statutory, tax and financial reporting requirements
• Take ownership of financial statement preparation under Spanish GAAP and other relevant accounting frameworks, completing thorough self-reviews to maintain quality and accuracy;
• Develop technical accounting papers and design and deliver training on Spanish GAAP and country-specific requirements for clients and colleagues, keep your technical knowledge current by monitoring international accounting and tax developments, particularly those relevant to Spanish GAAP;
• Collaborate with clients and Grant Thornton colleagues across EMEA, APAC and the Americas, building a strong international network;
• Manage your assignments effectively to meet agreed budgets, timelines and statutory filing deadlines;
• Contribute positively to a collaborative team environment and take a proactive approach to solving client challenges;
• Support and mentor junior colleagues, sharing knowledge and supporting their development; and,
• Help strengthen key client relationships, both locally and internationally.

What you will bring:

• A recognised accountancy qualification and strong Spanish GAAP knowledge, ideally supported by one to two years of relevant experience; ACA or ACCA qualifications combined with equivalent Spanish GAAP expertise are also welcome;
• Strong hands-on experience preparing and reviewing Spanish GAAP financial statements, ranging from straightforward to complex sets of accounts;
• Relevant experience gained within a top 20 accountancy firm;
• Strong communication skills and fluency in Spanish and English; proficiency in another European language would be an advantage but is not essential;
• Working knowledge of ONESOURCE for accounts preparation would be beneficial;
• Experience working with multinational organisations would be advantageous but is not essential; this may have been gained in either industry or a professional practice environment;
• The ability to manage competing priorities, work to tight timelines and meet statutory filing deadlines;
• Strong commercial awareness and an interest in understanding clients' businesses;
• A self-motivated, collaborative approach and a growth mindset; and
• A genuine commitment to delivering an excellent client experience.
