Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Manager, Global Commercial Strategy plays a critical role in shaping and advancing Novelis’ global commercial strategy. The role integrates market and competitive intelligence, customer and portfolio analytics, demand outlooks, and strategic planning to support profitable growth, asset optimization, and capital‑aligned commercial decisions. As part of the Global Commercial Center of Expertise, this role ensures alignment between market demand, customer strategy, supply‑demand balance, and long‑term capital priorities, while partnering closely with Regional Commercial, R&D, Corporate Strategy, and Sustainability teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Global Commercial Strategy Director in developing and evolving the global long‑term commercial strategy, including market positioning, competitive response, and portfolio optimization.
  • Monitor macroeconomic, end‑market, and competitive dynamics and translate them into clear commercial and demand implications for Novelis.
  • Lead analysis of global and regional aluminum end‑markets (Automotive, Beverage Packaging, Specialty), covering demand drivers, substitution risks, regulatory trends, and sustainability implications.
  • Provide fact‑based, structured analysis on high‑priority or ad‑hoc strategic topics for senior leadership.
  • Translate strategic intent into region‑ready commercial frameworks and tools (e.g., pricing models, customer segmentation) to enable consistent execution.
  • Lead end‑to‑end commercialization of global products and platforms, from value proposition definition through customer adoption and scale-up. Own commercial critical success factors (KSFs) for assigned products and track performance versus targets across regions.
  • Act as the connective link between the Global Commercial Center of Expertise and regional commercial teams across North America, Europe, South America, and Asia.
  • Ensure regional inputs are incorporated into global strategy while driving alignment on global commercial priorities and frameworks.
  • Manage global–regional critical issues and support fact‑based decision‑making when priorities conflict.
  • Support evaluation of greenfield / brownfield investments, metal flow decisions, and debottlenecking initiatives from a commercial and demand perspective.
  • Develop executive‑level materials (SPP decks, Board / ExCom presentations, decision papers) with clear insights and recommendations.
  • Support commercial governance through global‑regional operating rhythms, pipeline reviews, and performance reporting, ensuring leadership visibility of progress, risks, and decision needs.
  • Lead or co‑lead high‑visibility critical initiatives related to market entry, portfolio shifts, customer concentration, or structural profitability improvement.
  • Play a key role in the Strategic Planning Process (SPP) by developing a) demand scenarios and sensitivities; b) core assumptions on customer portfolio, product mix, and regional balance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, or related field required.
  • 8+ years in commercial strategy, corporate strategy, consulting, commercial excellence, or market analytics roles
  • Experience leading cross-functional and global / multi‑regional projects
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills; able to structure complex commercial questions
  • Demonstrated ability at gathering and synthesizing data from several internal data sources (quantitative and qualitative e.g., through interviews)
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Diligent, self-starter who is assertive, principled and flexible
  • Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Deep comfort with market data, customer analytics, and scenario planning
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills
  • Strong project management and partner influence capabilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in aluminum, metals, automotive, packaging, or capital‑intensive manufacturing industries
  • Prior experience at management consulting firm
  • MBA or other advanced degree
  • Demonstrated proficiencies in building financial models
  • Distinguished academic or intellectual achievement (highly regarded academic program, GPA, test scores, etc.)
  • International experience (work experience or study abroad)
  • Experience developing and presenting material to a senior level audience qualifications
