Job Description

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on and people-oriented leader to drive the delivery, control and continuous improvement of ING's global Financial Reporting Services.

As Circle Lead Financial Reporting Services, you are accountable for the execution of financial and statutory reporting services across ING, ensuring timely, accurate and compliant reporting to internal and external stakeholders. You lead a global cross-border team of reporting professionals and play a key role in advancing standardisation, automation, AI-enabled ways of working and operational excellence, while maintaining a strong risk and control environment.

You combine strategic leadership with operational execution, translating the COO Finance strategy into tangible improvements in processes, data quality, technology and workforce capabilities. In doing so, you help shape a more scalable, standardised and digitally enabled Financial Reporting Services organisation. You work closely with stakeholders across Finance and Risk, as well as internal and external auditors.

You report hierarchically to the Super Circle Lead Financial & Regulatory Reporting and are part of ING's global COO Finance leadership community.

Your work environment

COO Finance (COOF) is reporting hierarchically to the COO of the Bank, and has a permanent seat in the Management team of the CFO. COOF enables Finance through timely, accurate and compliant service delivery, supported by effective operations, data and technology.

As an end-to-end service organisation, COOF delivers accounting, reporting and finance operations. Its mission is to enable Finance excellence through real-time business insights, high-quality data, efficient operations and modern technology. COOF's strategy focuses on four priorities:

Your team

Your role is part of the Financial & Regulatory Reporting Super Circle, responsible for delivering high-quality financial, regulatory and statutory reporting services for ING entities and Group Finance.

The Super Circle safeguards reporting quality, strengthens end-to-end ownership, embeds effective controls and drives operational excellence. The Financial Reporting Services Circle forms part of a broader Financial & Regulatory Reporting organisation, alongside circles responsible for Regulatory Reporting, ESG Reporting, Liquidity Reporting, Statistical Reporting and DGS Reporting.

As Circle Lead, you lead the Financial Reporting Services Circle, which is responsible for:

• Financial statements and disclosures.
• Balance sheet and P&L reporting.
• Reconciliations and control activities.
• Technical reviews.

Your Key Responsibilities

As Circle Lead Financial Reporting Services, you are accountable for the performance, direction and development of the circle. You ensure safe, reliable and compliant delivery while driving transformation and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leadership and Strategy Translate the COOF strategy into clear priorities and outcomes. Define and execute the circle roadmap aligned with COOF and Super Circle objectives. Drive workforce strategies to optimise delivery and capabilities.
• Operational Excellence and Control Ensure timely, accurate and compliant delivery of financial reporting services. Maintain effective controls and manage operational and compliance risks. Monitor performance and drive continuous improvement across processes and controls.
• Transformation and Digitalisation: Drive standardisation, simplification, automation and AI-enabled improvements. Improve productivity, reporting quality, employee experience and operational resilience. Contribute to process, data and technology initiatives that support Finance transformation.
• People Leadership Lead and develop a diverse, global team of reporting professionals. Build future-ready capabilities in reporting, data, automation and digital ways of working. Create an environment of accountability, engagement, inclusion and continuous learning.
• Stakeholder Management Build trusted relationships across Finance, Risk, Operations, Technology and Audit. Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure transparent communication on priorities, risks and delivery.

What you bring

You hold a Master's degree or equivalent and bring at least 10 years of experience in financial reporting, accounting, control or a closely related discipline within financial services. You also have a proven track record of leading teams in complex international environments. You combine operational delivery with change leadership and are able to guide teams through continuous process & technology change. You have:

• Deep expertise in financial and statutory reporting and financial control within the banking industry.
• Strong understanding of IFRS, banking regulations, risk management and internal controls.
• Proven ability to lead scaled operational delivery while driving standardisation and digital transformation.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships.
• Clear affinity with AI, automation and data-driven ways of working with ability to translate into practical improvements in reporting quality, controls and efficiency.
