Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Global Chemical Compliance SME, located in Raynham, Massachusetts; West Chester, Pennsylvania; Warsaw, Indiana; or Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

The Global Chemical Compliance SME provides subject-matter expertise and leadership to ensure DePuy Synthes products and processes comply with evolving chemical legislation worldwide. The role translates requirements into practical strategies across product development, manufacturing, regulatory submissions, and lifecycle management while partnering cross-functionally to manage risk, strengthen governance, and maintain market access.

Key Responsibilities

· Serve as the global subject-matter expert for chemical compliance requirements, including EU REACH and REACH-like regulations, US TSCA, California Proposition 65, US FIFRA, GHS, PIC, Biocides, RoHS, and other applicable regulations.

· Monitor legislation, policies, and stakeholder expectations; assess applicability and translate business, product, and process impacts into implementation strategies.

· Develop policies, standards, governance, and mitigation plans for restricted substances, product safety, material composition, and other chemical compliance risks.

· Partner cross-functionally to embed requirements into product development, design changes, regulatory submissions, manufacturing, supplier activities, and lifecycle decisions.

· Lead the Chemical Compliance Community of Practice and align business and enterprise experts on positions, best practices, and process improvements.

· Advance materials and chemicals data strategies, compliance tools, data quality, process harmonization, metrics, and program reporting.

· Lead governance reviews and support internal, supplier, third-party, and regulatory audits and assessments.

· Represent DePuy Synthes in relevant trade and industry associations and support global advocacy and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Education:

· Master’s degree or equivalent in Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Environmental Science, Product Stewardship, or a related discipline is required.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

· 10 plus years of relevant experience in product stewardship, chemistry, materials science, chemical compliance, environmental engineering, or a related field within a global regulated industry.

· Deep knowledge of global chemical compliance requirements, chemistry, materials science, chemical properties, and environmental product regulations, with hands-on experience applying them.

· Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex problems, exercise sound judgment, manage competing priorities, and deliver accurate, timely outcomes.

· Excellent written, verbal, analytical, organizational, and presentation skills, including the ability to translate technical and legal information into practical guidance.

· Demonstrated ability to influence and lead across functions, organizational levels, and global teams while maintaining integrity, confidentiality, and customer focus.

Preferred:

· Hands-on experience with chemical and product regulatory programs across major global markets, including Europe, the United States, Canada, Japan, China, and Korea.

· Knowledge of toxicology, analytical testing, polymers, metal alloys, reactants, synthetic routes, and processing aids.

· Experience developing requirements for environmental compliance tools and conducting chemical or environmental product compliance audits.

· Experience with external advocacy, global matrixed organizations, and compliance process improvement.

Other:

· Language: English required; knowledge of additional languages is an asset.

· Travel: Up to 10%, including occasional domestic or international travel.

· Certifications: Regulatory Affairs Certification or relevant chemical/compliance certifications are preferred but not required.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$117,000.00 - $201,250.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation –120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year

Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year

Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days

Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year

Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
