  • The Cross Border Marketing Team at Mercari is dedicated to enabling customers worldwide to seamlessly buy and sell across borders on the Mercari marketplace app. By driving initiatives such as international market expansion and the launch of new business schemes, the team plays a critical role in shaping the growth of Mercari’s Cross Border business.

Work Responsibilities

We are seeking a Global Campaign Specialist to support engagement initiatives for Mercari’s cross-border business across markets including Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the United States . In this role, you will execute and improve engagement programs that drive user activation, retention, repeat purchase, and overall customer value. You’ll collaborate with Product, Analytics, Design, Business Development, Customer Support to drive measurable impact and help Mercari expand its global reach.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support planning and execution of multi-market engagement initiatives, aligning with business priorities and market needs.
  • Operate day-to-day engagement campaigns and communications, including coordination of timelines, assets, QA, and deployment readiness.
  • Manage campaign setup and execution in relevant channels, such as in-app channels (push notification/in-app notification/email), owned social, and other engagement touchpoints as applicable.
  • Coordinate localization and adaptation of engagement messaging for each market (English/Traditional Chinese), ensuring cultural and linguistic relevance.
  • Work with analytics and other stakeholders to monitor performance and produce regular reporting (e.g., engagement rate, conversion, repeat actions, retention), and summarize insights clearly.
  • Conduct post-campaign analysis, identify improvement opportunities, and propose actionable next steps for optimization.
  • Support A/B testing and experimentation to improve messaging, segmentation, timing, and user experience.
  • Collaborate with product, creative, customer support, and other teams to ensure smooth execution and a consistent user experience.
  • Help facilitate effective communication across Japan and overseas stakeholders, supporting alignment and decision-making.

  • As a small, high-impact team, the role requires strong execution discipline, cross-functional coordination, and comfort handling ambiguity while moving fast.
  • Leveraging the assets of Mercari, Japan’s largest marketplace app, to explore and build new businesses presents significant challenges, but also offers the opportunity to deliver substantial impact when successful.

Qualifications

  • Required Experiences/Skills
    • One of the following
      • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field
      • 3+ years of experience in engagement/CRM marketing, lifecycle marketing, or related marketing operations (experience across multiple markets is a plus).
    • Hands-on experience supporting campaign execution and operations (briefing, scheduling, asset management, QA, deployment support).
    • Strong analytical and reporting capability; able to translate data into clear insights and actions (experience with A/B testing is a plus).
    • Experience working cross-functionally with stakeholders such as product, analytics, creative, and operations.
    • Strong project management skills with attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
  • Preferred Experiences/Skills
    • ​​Experience in e-commerce, marketplace, or cross-border business.
    • Familiarity with CRM tools and customer engagement platforms (email/push/in-app), segmentation concepts, and lifecycle frameworks.
    • Experience supporting engagement initiatives beyond paid acquisition (activation, retention, winback, loyalty, referral, community, etc.).
    • SQL proficiency (able to query data and support performance analysis/segmentation).
  • Language
    • English: Proficient (CEFR – C1) Mandatory
    • Traditional Chinese: Proficient (CEFR – C1) Mandatory
    • Japanese: Basic
