Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly strategic individual to join as the FICC Strategy Lead within the Global Banking & Markets (GBM) Strategy, Investments and Partnerships team. This pivotal role will be dedicated to shaping and executing global strategies within Fixed Income, Currency, and Commodities (FICC). The successful candidate will analyse evolving market dynamics and drive strategic initiatives to ensure the firm maintains a leading position in the FICC landscape. This role demands a deep understanding of market structure, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative approach to complex challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, refine, and articulate comprehensive global FICC strategies, leveraging in-depth market intelligence, competitive analysis, and internal capabilities.
  • Lead strategic projects and initiatives focused on FICC growth, market positioning, and efficiency improvements across all FICC product lines.
  • Analyse and interpret market structure dynamics, particularly within fixed income asset classes, assessing their implications for business models, client engagement, and growth.
  • Stay abreast of relevant market dynamics, including macroeconomic trends, geopolitical developments, technological advancements, and regulatory changes impacting FICC markets.
  • Collaborate closely with FICC business heads, sales, trading, technology, and operations teams to ensure strategic alignment and effective execution.
  • Serve as a thought leader, preparing and presenting strategic insights and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong external relationships with clients, industry participants, and regulators, representing the Firm's strategic interests and gathering market intelligence.
  • Contribute to internal and external publications, whitepapers, and client presentations on FICC market developments and strategic outlooks.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the financial services industry, with a substantial background in FICC markets (e.g., within an investment bank, asset manager, consultancy, or FinTech firm focused on FICC).
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, business development, market analysis, or a similar high-impact role within FICC.
  • Keen interest and proven understanding of market structure dynamics impacting fixed income asset classes, including trading protocols, liquidity, clearing, and settlement.
  • Strong awareness of relevant market dynamics, technological innovation (e.g., DLT, AI), and regulatory frameworks (e.g., MiFID II, Dodd-Frank, EMIR) relevant to these asset classes.
  • Highly articulate with exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of simplifying complex topics for diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage external and client relationships effectively, demonstrating strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • A proactive and collaborative team player with the ability to influence and drive consensus across various functions and geographies.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to synthesize data and qualitative information into actionable strategic insights.
  • Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related quantitative field is preferred.
