Operations is a dynamic, multi-faceted division that partners with all areas of the firm to deliver banking, sales and trading and asset management capabilities to clients around the world. Alongside this vital service delivery role, Operations provides essential risk management and control, preserving and enhancing the firm’s assets and its reputation.
Operations span all product lines and markets, serving as internal business partners who develop the processes and controls, and help to specify the systems that deliver accuracy, timeliness, and integrity to our business.
Business Unit Overview
The Margin Lending Group, within Margin, Collateral and Valuations Operations is responsible for margin risk monitoring supporting the Prime Margin Lending (MCVO) and Global Security Services (GSS) businesses. The successful candidate will work within a team focusing on monitoring margin exposure for the related accounts. This will involve interacting with Business Partners including Credit, Risk, Compliance, Technology and Projects across London, New York, and Hong Kong.
& Responsibilities
The Margin Lending group focuses on a combination of day-to-day operational functions and value-added projects and initiatives. From an early stage, we develop and expect our analysts to think creatively and ‘outside the box’ as well as improving the daily process and taking responsibility and ownership for this to happen.
We promote cross training and ensure our Analysts develop a broad level of understanding across the varied departmental functions carried out. You can expect to be given early responsibility and in return you will be expected to contribute your own ideas to make a difference and add value to the group. The role will involve close interaction with other areas of the bank including Credit, Risk and Sales, therefore requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Calculation and issuance of margin calls, including validation and follow up, ensuring calls are met in a timely manner
• Responding to all incoming queries
• Interacting with many different areas of the bank, in particular with Risk, Credit and Technology
• Proactively working on enhancing the team’s process and controls
• Resolution and escalation of all client disputes and queries
• Project and initiative management and participation within the team and across all regions
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors’ degree
• Strong motivation to succeed, both as an individual and as a team
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and meet deadlines
• Effective problem solving and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to use discretion and good judgement
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong appreciation of client service
Preferred Qualifications
• At least 2 years of experience in Operations or related field
• Control focused
• Ability to deal with multiple complex issues at the same time while meeting client deadlines
