Your Role:

The Glass Technician i n Bellefonte, PA will manipulate raw glass tubing and rods through a variety of manual tooling operations in the fabrication of scientific glass fittings, scientific glass products and related apparatus. Job duties include:

  • Receives and interprets work orders
  • Manufacture and fill ORBO, glass thermal desorption tubes, and glass GC liners.
  • Uses bench crossfire, torches, hand rollers and hand forming tools to form various shapes and configurations from glass tubing and rod
  • Use automated and semi-automated equipment to assist in the manipulation of glass rod and tubing.
  • Follow written work instructions and drawings and manufacture to tight tolerances.
  • Perform manufacturing duties to include tube filling, wool plugs, tube sealing and packaging.
  • Assist in the instruction of coworkers.
  • Operate and maintain necessary tools, equipment, and apparatus used in glass parts production.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and well-organized work area.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned .

Physical Requirements:
  • Capable of bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling low to moderate weight
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to perform the required job tasks.
  • Occasional use of ladders and steps
  • Capable of seeing and hearing within normal limits.
  • Operates laboratory apparatus
  • Wears appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Works in a laboratory setting where chemicals are used

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 + year of experience in scientific glass blowing

OR
  • Associate degree in Scientific Glass Technology (or experience completed through a structured glassblowing apprenticeship).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of glass blowing operations and techniques; especially scientific glassware
  • Experience operating and maintaining tools, equipment and apparatus used in glass tooling parts production
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to assist others.

RSREMD

Pay Range for this position: $20.00 - 32.00

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
