Receptionist

Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Assigned Administrator
Greenville ISD is seeking a professional, organized, and customer-focused Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for visitors, staff, students, and community members. This position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing incoming communications, and supporting daily office operations while maintaining a welcoming and professional environment.
Primary Purpose
Provide courteous and efficient reception and clerical support for the assigned department or campus. Serve as the initial point of contact for visitors and callers while ensuring accurate communication, organization, and support of office operations.
Qualifications
Education and Certification:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree or additional clerical training preferred
Special Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Proficiency with standard office equipment and computer applications
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and frequent interruptions
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with others
Experience:
- Previous receptionist, clerical, or administrative support experience preferred
- Experience in a school or public service environment preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Reception and Customer Service
- Greet visitors, staff, students, and community members in a professional and welcoming manner
- Answer incoming telephone calls and direct calls to the appropriate individual or department
- Provide accurate information regarding district or campus procedures and services
- Assist visitors with sign-in procedures and visitor management requirements
Office Support
- Receive, sort, and distribute mail, deliveries, and correspondence
- Maintain office records, files, and documentation as assigned
- Assist with scheduling appointments, meetings, and conference room usage
- Prepare correspondence, reports, and other documents as requested
Communication and Coordination
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and community members
- Relay messages accurately and in a timely manner
- Assist with coordinating office communications and daily operations
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student, employee, and district information
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude
- Support department and district initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
