GIS Technician I
Do you possess a solid knowledge of GIS technologies, utility documentation, terminology, and construction practices? Do you like the technical components of working with GIS data, but enjoy utilizing your people skills to build relationships with internal and external customers? If so, we'd love for you to join our Utility Data Management team as a GIS Technician I! You'll have an opportunity to collaborate with GIS professionals, engineers, and business partners to perform GIS editing for our wastewater utility data; provide map documents to internal and external customers; and play a key role in continuing to create process documentation for our team.
What Else Will You be Doing?
- Editing wastewater utility spatial, attribute, and relationship data using ArcFM tools
- Reading and interpreting diagrams, prints, specifications, AutoCAD drawings, and work scopes to digitize wastewater as-builts into the GIS environment
- Reviewing and correcting data integrity errors related to our wastewater utility dataset
- Reviewing and assisting in archiving supporting documentation
- Assisting in the retrieval of infrastructure records for internal and external customers, and scanning and uploading wastewater documents into our enterprise document management system
Who You Are
- Demonstrated proficiency with ESRI products including ArcMap and AutoCAD
- Experience using ArcGIS Pro, ArcCatalog, Utility Network, and/or AGOL is valued
- Proficiency with Schneider tools
- Experience using Maximo, eB, and Microsoft Office products
- Ability to identify, implement, and document opportunities for process improvements
- Ability to communicate GIS concepts and processes effectively to a variety of audiences
- Basic knowledge of construction standards and principles
- Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license is required - this job requires operating Colorado Springs Utilities' vehicles
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or small amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions within an office working environment.
