Job Description

Dewberry is seeking a GIS Professional in our Richmond, VA office. This position will support a wide array of geospatially-enabled efforts in the southeast and mid-Atlantic supporting energy, commercial and economic development. Candidates will have competencies and demonstrated experience with geospatial data management, map development of all kinds, data queries.

Candidates will have strong skills with proficiency in a range of important tools such as ESRI ArcGIS technologies (including ArcGIS Pro, AGOL & field collection software).

This position will mostly focus on implementing advanced GIS techniques and processes to support production efforts in support of clients for Energy and Economic Development related projects in our Richmond, VA office. Responsibilities

  • Work on consulting projects for energy, local, private and economic development clients
  • Support large scale geospatial data gathering, data managing and data presentation projects spanning multiple years as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Checking for technical accuracy of GIS and geospatial deliverables and associated reports;
  • Coordinating with the project team, project managers, clients, local communities, and other contractors to compile all data necessary to produce the most up-to-date product

Required Skills & Required Experience

Must have experience that demonstrates a strong background in application of GIS and skills to execute efficient solutions. The candidate should have strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and work independently and as a team player.

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or related field.
  • 2-7 years of experience in the GIS Field.
  • Skills using Esri ArcGIS Pro 3.X and ArcGIS for Desktop 10.8X
  • Understanding of coordinate systems, projections and transformations
  • Cartographic skills for both desktop and web-based maps
  • Ability to understand the big picture of a project and how that relates to the GIS tasks at hand
  • Desire to push the boundaries of GIS on projects, when appropriate
  • Enjoys challenging GIS tasks
  • Exceptional visual, written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in keeping up to date on emerging geospatial technologies
  • Self-motivated to learn new GIS skills and continuously improve on existing skillsets
  • Ability to effectively juggle multiple tasks concurrently
  • Ability to relay complex technical information to a wide array or audiences.
  • Familiar with a variety of the GIS profession concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience developing web GIS using ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise/Portal, including Experience Builder, Dashboards, Hub Sites, Instant Apps, Community Analyst, and other Esri Web platforms
  • Mobile data collection, processing, and integration (GPS surveys with Field Maps, Survey123)
