Job Category: Upper School EducationObjective:  To oversee the effective administration and growth of all aspects of the girls basketball program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze, demonstrate, and explain basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of girls basketball.
- Instruct student-athletes in the safety practices associated with girls basketball.
- Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
- Recruit, train, and supervise assistant coaches in conjunction with the Director of Athletics.
- Understand and implement all appropriate rules and regulations according to MHSAA guidelines.
- Ensure the integrity and fairness of all sports’ tryouts and selection processes, including appropriate and timely notifications that honors the dignity of students regarding their selection.
- Work with administrators and faculty to plan and implement instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student-athletes.
- Maintain proper control and discipline in a positive manner by establishing good, wholesome rapport through healthy, professional relationships among students involved in athletic programs.
- Monitor and enforce student-athlete eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
- Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate student-athletes' abilities initially and on a regular basis.
- Establish and maintain open communication with parents/guardians, students, other coaches, administrators, and faculty.
- Work with the Director of Athletics to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements.
- Instruct student-athletes in the proper care and use of materials and equipment.
- Maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within the program.
- Oversee the process of ordering, cleaning, repairing, and storing athletic equipment and uniforms.
- Accompany and supervise student-athletes during athletic competitions in girls basketball during away games.
- Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.
- Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with the student handbook.
- Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.
- Organize and assist with special activities such as homecoming, lower school visits, senior night, banquets, awards night, and pep rallies.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase interest in girls basketball participation.
Other
- As needed, teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness utilizing curriculum designated by the athletic department leadership.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the three divisions and athletic department.
- Attend and contribute in full, divisional, and departmental faculty meetings.
- Take an active role in professional activities and attend relevant professional meetings and conferences.
- Stay abreast of the latest advances in coaching and athletic operations.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in physical education, education administration, sports management, or related field required.  Master’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of three years of coaching experience and/or athletic administration in a school environment required.
- Represent the school in the larger community in a positive manner that reflects the values of the school.
- Ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, administrators, parents, alumni, and guests.
- Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous, and complex tasks and projects efficiently and effectively without constant supervision.
- High degree of cultural competency and demonstrated commitment to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Professional written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Google Suite preferred.
