Job Purpose and Impact


The Gilt Technician will support farm operations by delivering technical services and on‑farm assistance to ensure optimal gilt development and performance within the GGP system. In this role, you will utilize established farm protocols and technical tools to monitor animal health, troubleshoot production issues, and carry out routine care and management activities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Supervise daily care, nutrition, health monitoring, disease prevention, and treatment following established technical protocols.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and manage gilt quality throughout the development stages. Apply approved nutrition programs, vaccination guidelines, and medication protocols.
  • Monitor barn infrastructure, waste‑water systems, and sanitation activities to ensure compliance with environmental and biosecurity standards. Enforce strict biosecurity procedures to prevent disease introduction and maintain farm health status.
  • Plan and manage inventory of feed, vaccines, veterinary supplies, and farm equipment to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and technical training for farm employees; ensure staff understand farm rules, policies, and operational procedures.Coordinate team‑building activities and employee engagement initiatives to strengthen teamwork and farm culture.
  • Prepare daily production reports, performance results, and movement records for management review. Manage farm data and analyze production performance using farm management software (e.g., Agriness).
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Husbandry or Animal Science/ Veterinary
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience
