WHAT WE CAN DO TOGETHER
The Association of Former Students engages and inspires the Aggie Network for Texas A&M University in perpetuating the Aggie Spirit. Through our Annual Fund, as well as other revenue streams, we provide scholarships, endowments, emergency student loans, and awards for faculty. Our newest colleague will join our Development team in advancing our mission through dedicated support that builds relationships with our donors through Gift Recognition services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

ROUTINE DUTIES

  • Answer phone calls and assist constituents with questions.
  • Print letters and envelopes based upon recent gifts to The Association of Former Students.
  • Working with other Development staff, sort contents based upon recent donor giving (i.e. Annual Year Bar and decal), and prepare letters and envelopes for mailing.
  • Open and categorize returned mail for further handling.
  • Submit updates for changes to donor contact information.
  • Maintain timeline for outgoing donor communication.
  • Support Stewardship with assembly, packaging and mailing of Century Club plaques.
  • Participate in special projects on an as-needed basis
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

EMPLOYEES OF THE ASSOCIATION OF FORMER STUDENTS

  • Understand how the work done by The Association of Former Students impacts students of Texas A&M University.
  • Participate in various Association-wide activities such as Aggie Ring Day, engagement and fundraising goals, internal event teams, task committees, attending gameday receptions, Distinguished Alumni Gala and other external events as required.
  • Serve as an ambassador by meeting our Team Expectations, fostering relationships with students and other constituents of Texas A&M.
  • Exemplify Our Core Values Respect, Excellence, Loyalty, Leadership, Integrity, Service.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Required: One year of general office experience. Ability to type 25 WPM with accuracy. Good time management skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to follow detailed directions either written or verbal. Good verbal and written communication skills. Basic or intermediate level of knowledge in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Preferred: Availability to work during periods when university is not in session such as during holidays. Experience working with non-profit donor recognition program.

PHYSICAL CAPACITY REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work at a desk and use a computer, keyboard and monitor for significant portion of the workday. Lifting and carrying objects up to 10 pounds infrequently. EDUCATION
Required: Student current enrolled at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
Preferred: Majoring in non-profit management as either undergraduate or graduate student.

The Association of Former Students traces its origin to the Ex-Cadets Association formed in 1879 and later to the A&M Alumni Association and Alpha Phi Fraternity. In 1919, a coalition was formed and adopted the name "The Association of Former Students."​ Since 1879 much has changed in organization and details, but the fundamental objectives of The Association remain the same.
