Job Description

GE Vernova is seeking a Lead Production Engineer to join the Design Engineering Team within the Generator & Electrical Systems Organization. This role will provide advanced engineering leadership for manufacturing and production-related topics across ongoing generator projects, with primary responsibility for 50 Hz and 60 Hz machine platforms manufactured at the Wroclaw Factory.

The successful candidate will serve as a senior technical interface between engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and project execution teams, ensuring production-related issues are resolved with speed, rigor, and clear prioritization. In addition to supporting execution on active projects, this role will drive manufacturability improvements, strengthen production readiness, reduce recurring technical issues, and influence design and operational decisions across the product lifecycle. The position requires strong cross-functional leadership, sound technical judgment, and the ability to guide resolution of complex manufacturing challenges while maintaining compliance with technical, quality, cost, and schedule requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead production and manufacturing engineering support for active generator projects within the 50 Hz and 60 Hz portfolio, ensuring effective issue resolution across the manufacturing lifecycle.
  • Serve as the primary engineering focal point for complex production-related issues arising during manufacturing, assembly, inspection, testing, and delivery preparation.
  • Provide technical leadership at the interface of design engineering and manufacturing to ensure alignment between design intent, manufacturability, producibility, and execution strategy.
  • Own the resolution of significant non-conformances, deviations, and technical production issues, coordinating cross-functional actions with design, quality, sourcing, project, and factory teams.
  • Drive timely disposition and closure of manufacturing issues, balancing technical risk, business impact, quality requirements, and project schedule commitments.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for major production problems, recurring defects, and systemic execution challenges.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve manufacturability, standardization, assembly methods, production efficiency, and first-time quality.
  • Provide technical direction for engineering changes impacting manufacturing, ensuring robust evaluation, clear communication, and effective implementation within the factory.
  • Partner with suppliers and internal manufacturing sites to resolve technical production matters, improve execution consistency, and address supply chain-related manufacturing risks.
  • Influence design-for-manufacturing decisions early in project execution to reduce technical risk and improve production robustness.
  • Support production readiness reviews, risk assessments, and execution planning for new or complex builds.
  • Contribute to outage, field, and warranty-related manufacturing issues where design-for-production, producibility, or factory execution are contributing factors.
  • Capture and drive lessons learned from production issues and ensure feedback is embedded into engineering standards, design practices, and operational processes.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and provide technical guidance across production support activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, internal procedures, safety requirements, and quality expectations across all areas of responsibility.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Significant experience in manufacturing engineering, production support, design engineering, or generator/turbomachinery engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience working with complex industrial products, preferably rotating equipment, generators, or large electrical machines.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, assembly methods, non-conformance management, and technical problem solving in an industrial environment.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional resolution of complex technical and production issues in a project-driven organization.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across engineering, operations, and project teams.
  • Fluent English, both written and verbal.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong technical leadership and decision-making capability.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity.
  • High level of ownership, accountability, and execution focus.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority topics in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Collaborative and proactive approach with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority across functions and organizational boundaries.
  • Hands-on mindset with the ability to combine technical rigor and practical execution.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and knowledge sharing.
