Job Description

Are you an early-career technician with an interest in construction materials testing and geotechnical fieldwork? We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Technician I in the Fort Myers, FL location to support construction projects through field observation, testing, and documentation. In this role, you will work alongside engineers, geologists, and scientists on a variety of geotechnical and environmental projects across both public and private sectors.

Work Schedule

  • Full-time position working four (4) 10-hour days per week
  • Schedule may include early start times and flexibility based on project and field demands

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform field observation of construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards
  • Conduct soil testing, including moisture and density testing using a nuclear density gauge
  • Perform concrete testing (slump, air content, and unit weight)
  • Conduct asphalt testing, including temperature and compaction verification
  • Interpret and utilize civil drawings, project specifications, and geotechnical reports
  • Accurately complete daily field reports, testing documentation, timesheets, and expense reports
  • Assist laboratory and drilling teams as needed
  • Maintain and properly handle company-issued equipment

Requirements

  • High school diploma or degree in civil engineering, environmental science, or related field
  • 0–2+ years of construction materials testing or geotechnical field experience (entry-level considered)
  • Basic knowledge of s oil, concrete, and asphalt testing; nuclear density gauge experience a plus
  • Ability to read civil drawings and project specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and clean driving record
  • ACI, Nicet, FDOT/CTQP certifications preferred
