The Opportunity

Our Geotechnical team is looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join us our Cairns office.

You will be part of a team delivering geotechnical services across diverse infrastructure, renewable energy and development projects. From site investigations and testing to foundation design, earthworks and geotechnical assessments, you will work alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists, gaining exposure to a broad range of projects while continuing to develop your technical expertise.

In this role, you will:

  • Assist in the delivery of geotechnical projects as part of multidisciplinary project teams
  • Support the planning and execution of geotechnical investigations, including drilling programs, in-situ testing, sampling and monitoring
  • Undertake geotechnical analyses, including slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity and earthworks assessments
  • Contribute to the design of foundations, retaining structures and ground improvement solutions under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Prepare technical reports, factual investigation reports and design documentation
  • Participate in site inspections and construction support activities
  • Assist in identifying geotechnical risks and developing practical engineering solutions
  • Build relationships with clients, contractors and project stakeholders
  • Contribute to a strong safety culture and ensure works are completed in accordance with health, safety and environmental requirements
  • Continue developing your technical capability through mentoring, training and exposure to industry-leading projects

About You

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • A collaborative approach and strong communication skills, with a genuine desire to learn and grow within a high-performing team
  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline
  • Approximately 2-5 years' experience in geotechnical engineering, ideally within a consulting, infrastructure, construction or mining environment
  • Exposure to site investigations, geotechnical assessments and engineering design
  • Familiarity with geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, Slope/W, Settle3D, LPILE, gINT or similar
  • Strong technical writing and report preparation skills
  • An ability to manage competing priorities and contribute effectively within project teams
  • A commitment to professional development, with progress towards Chartered status viewed favourably
  • A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required
