Geotechnical Engineer, Wellington

With a strong pipeline of RONS projects, WSP is seeking a talented Geotechnical Engineer to join our high-performing Ground Engineering team in Wellington. This is an exciting opportunity to work on impactful projects in the Water, Transport, and Infrastructure sectors, contributing to solutions that shape communities and the environment.

About you

  • A tertiary qualification in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering. Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a specialisation in Geotechnical Engineering (strongly preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of consultancy experience.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or actively working towards it.
  • Strong knowledge of ground investigations, laboratory testing, and data interpretation.
  • Relevant experience in designing slope stabilisation solutions, retaining walls, and foundations (shallow and deep). Understanding of soil-structure interaction, seepage analysis, experience in ground improvement design and numerical modelling is a plus.
  • Proficiency in relevant geotechnical analysis and design software.
  • Exceptional technical writing ability for reports and proposals.
  • Ability to oversee and manage geotechnical aspects during construction, ensuring compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively, foster team spirit, and contribute to a positive office environment.
