As a Geospatial Developer you are responsible for technical aspects of the EGIS platform, including its spatial data services, map applications, and geoprocessing workflows. This includes providing ongoing support, implementing fixes, developing new features, coordinating system activities, and architecting geospatial solutions.
We are looking for a Geospatial Developer who will collaborate with stakeholders to integrate new spatial data sources and functionalities across the Esri and open-source geospatial stacks, develop and document operational protocols, and train ADB staff to build internal capacity for platform management. These activities will ensure that EGIS continues to deliver reliable and actionable geospatial insights. This position will be a full-time and hybrid in Mandaluyong City.
What You'll Do
Automation and Multi-Cloud Integration: Design and build APIs and other necessary scripts to automate Esri jobs and implement multi-cloud APIs that connect Esri platforms (ArcGIS Online / ArcGIS Enterprise) as well as other EGIS platforms with AWS and Azure, including AWS-to-AWS service integration
Standard Architecture and Geo-Marketspace: Define and implement a standard reference architecture for locating and organizing APIs, scripts, and code, and establish the Geo-Marketspace: a discoverable, standardized geospatial catalog/marketplace of reusable geospatial services, scripts, and code
Supporting internal management of EGIS
Establishing robust operational protocols for spatial data and map services
Identifying and mitigating system vulnerabilities
Optimizing geospatial performance and integrating new mapping and analytical functionalities
Automating Esri and EGIS jobs through APIs and scripts across Esri SaaS, AWS, and Azure
Standing up the standard architecture and Geo-Marketspace catalog for reusable APIs, scripts, and code
What You'll Need
Required:
A bachelor's degree in computer science, geographic information science, geomatics, information technology, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.At least seven years of experience in geospatial application development and system maintenance, with a focus on GIS platforms and spatial data services
Demonstrated proficiency with Python geospatial libraries (e.g., GeoPandas, Shapely, Rasterio, GDAL/OGR, Fiona, ArcPy), JavaScript geospatial libraries (e.g., Leaflet, OpenLayers, Mapbox GL JS, ArcGIS API for JavaScript), and cloud-native geospatial (geoparquet, STAC, COG, Zarr, protomaps)
Hands-on experience working with the proprietary Esri stack (ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online) and the open source geospatial stack (QGIS, PostGIS, GeoServer/MapServer, GDAL)
Proven expertise in troubleshooting, spatial data optimization, and integrating new functionalities into existing platforms
Strong knowledge of spatial databases, coordinate reference systems, OGC standards (WMS, WFS, WMTS, WPS), and geospatial system architecture
Demonstrated experience designing and building APIs and scripts to automate Esri (e.g., ArcGIS REST API, ArcPy, ArcGIS API for Python) and other geospatial jobs
Experience developing multi-cloud integrations across Esri SaaS, AWS, and Azure, including AWS-to-AWS service integration (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, S3, Step Functions)
Experience defining standard/reference architectures and building service catalogs or marketplaces for the discovery and reuse of APIs, scripts, and code
Experience in training and capacity building, including the development of user manuals and technical documentation
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
Experience in requirement analysis and business process re-engineering
Prior experience in agile methodologies (experience in product management)
Ability to solve complex technical, managerial, or operational problems and evaluate options based on relevant information, resources, well-rounded experience, and knowledge
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards
Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
