Purpose of Role:

The Geospatial Analyst provides spatial data, analysis and mapping services that enable informed decision-making across The Crown Estate's diverse portfolio. The role delivers accurate geographic information, spatial insight, and visualisation to support strategic, operational, transactional and legal activities across the business.

Working collaboratively with colleagues, Managing Agents and external stakeholders, the Geospatial Analyst ensures the effective management of spatial data, promotes best practice in geospatial and contributes to the continuous improvement of GIS tools, processes and services across the business.

Moving forward the role will also contribute to the development and adoption of new and better geospatial products, processes, platforms and services that both support and futureproof GIS Casework as well as other future business objectives.

Context of opportunity / Main accountabilities:

  • Deliver geospatial analysis, mapping and spatial insight to support various business priorities and decision-making and transactional activities across the business.

  • Undertake proximity checks to identify the spatial implications of proposed new developments on existing assets and external obligations.

  • Maintain accurate geospatial datasets through its entire life cycle, ensuring data quality, currency and governance standards are met and adhered to.

  • Produce maps, plans, visualisations and other spatial outputs that meet business and legal requirements.

  • Be accountable for the management and tracking of business requests, ensuring all tasks are recorded through the teams central logging system and delivered to agreed geospatial quality standards and timescales.

  • Build effective relationships with colleagues, Managing Agents and external stakeholders.

  • Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve GIS Casework service delivery.

  • Support the transition of the GIS Casework business unit and stakeholder community to a self-service delivery model wherever possible through use of appropriate GI tools and datasets

  • Support the development, testing, and enhancement of GIS systems and applications.

Most important skills based requirements:

  • Experience using GIS to manage, analyse and present spatial data.

  • Experience producing various types of mapping products, spatial analysis, and data visualisations.

  • Experience using ArcGIS Pro

  • Understanding spatial data management principles and its real-world application, including metadata, projections and coordinate systems.

  • Ability to communicate technical information to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Experience building collaborative stakeholder relationships.

  • Demonstrates Better Together, Candour with Care, Resourceful and Accountable behaviours.

Non-Essential skills:

  • BSc or MSc in Geographic Information Science or related field

  • Experience with Python, FME or similar GIS automation tools.

  • Experience with ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise to build web apps and dashboards etc.

  • Knowledge of land, rural, urban, marine, environmental, or energy sectors.
