Geoscience

What role you will play in our team

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Engineer or Geoscientist with strong expertise in computational modeling, solid mechanics, and finite element methods. This role will support well planning and geomechanical projects in oil & gas applications and CO2 storage, with a focus on solving complex subsurface problems through numerical modeling.

What you will do

  • Utilize numerical modeling tools and software to solve subsurface problems involving stresses, pore pressure, and deformations.
  • Develop and implement innovative workflows, tools, and modeling approaches with minimal supervision.
  • Integrate numerical results with experimental geomechanics or field observations to improve prediction and decision‑making.
  • Collaborate across technical disciplines and global teams to deploy solutions into operational workflows.
  • Deliver high‑quality technical reports and presentations to internal and external audiences.

About You

You bring deep technical skills, creativity, and a passion for numerical problem‑solving. Strong foundation in solid mechanics, finite‑element modeling, and constitutive behavior is essential. Excellent communication, teamwork, and project‑management abilities are expected. Work effectively with diverse, multicultural, geographically distributed teams.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Geophysics, Geology or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in numerical methods for solid‑mechanics applications, including finite‑element modeling.
  • Expertise in computational modeling of deformation, stresses, and coupled systems (solid-thermal or poro-mechanics).
  • Experience in developing or applying mathematical/numerical models to solid and multi‑physics problems.
  • Familiarity with analytical topics such as elastic/inelastic deformation, rock creep, contact mechanics, rock stability, and fluid–structure interaction.
  • Experience with subsurface geomechanics applications (e.g., reservoir compaction, fault reactivation, casing/completion deformation, stress prediction for well planning, hydraulic fracturing) is beneficial.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with modeling tools (e.g., ABAQUS, ANSYS, Reveal, VISAGE, Elfen) and high-performance computing environments.
  • Ability to develop or modify code in MATLAB, Python, or other programming languages.
  • Industry experience in Abaqus based geomechanical modeling is highly desirable.
