Job Description

This Opportunity

WSP USA, Inc is seeking an mid-career geologist to carry out the planning and implementation of field investigations. Additional responsibilities include preparation of technical documents and provide construction oversight. This individual will interface with both internal and external clients; be dynamic, creative, quality driven, have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; and be a proactive problem solver. Overall, you will be working with teams of engineers, geologists and scientists on a wide variety of projects including environmental assessments, investigations and soil/groundwater remediation.

Key Responsibilities

  • BS or MS degree in geology, environmental engineering or related field.
  • 5-8 years experience conducting/leading field investigations.
  • Assists with writing Sampling and Analysis Plans.
  • Prepares Site Specific Health and Safety Plans.
  • Leads multi-disciplinary field teams in safely executing requirements of sampling and analysis plans.
  • Performs oversight of subcontractors advancing soil borings, installing monitoring wells, conducting geophysical investigations, as well as other field activities.
  • Performs environmental sampling including low flow groundwater, sediment, surface water and soil vapor.
  • Performs geologic logging.
  • Performs analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data.
  • Writes daily reports of observation.
  • Monitors work procedures for compliance with project specifications.
  • Interacts with client representative (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites.
  • Provides mentorship to others.
  • Work within multidiscipline design teams on wide variety of civil and civil/environmental projects, including site development, infrastructure, landfills, stream restoration, soil and groundwater remediation.
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written, and organizational abilities.
  • Interact with coworkers, clients, and prospective clients while conducting work in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Willingness to accept responsibility and additional support tasks.
  • Strong dedication to maintaining a safe work environment and promoting company safety culture.
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours if/as required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Basic/Required Qualifications

  • BS in Geology.
  • Ability to prepare design engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and drawings.
  • Ability to lead technical/field teams on large projects.
  • Can work in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Construction inspection/oversight experience.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training is a plus.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Construction Training.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $67,900 - $97,100

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law
