About the RoleWe are seeking a Geo-Environmental Consultant to join our team in Northwich, with opportunities for rapid professional development and promotion for the right candidate. We're looking for someone with approximately 1-5+ years relevant experience who is a team player with drive, ambition and commitment to producing quality work. You'll work as part of an experienced team delivering geo-environmental and geotechnical consultancy services to a diverse range of clients, with a good balance of site and office working. Key Responsibilities

• Be familiar with relevant standards, guidance and legislative background to the geo-environmental and geotechnical industry
• Supervise ground investigations involving various techniques, manage subcontractors, log and sample soil and rock to BS5930
• Monitor gas and groundwater, undertake in-situ tests, and conduct validation visits
• Schedule chemical and geotechnical laboratory testing and produce exploratory hole logs using Holebase or similar
• Produce calculations from templates and drawings (including in CAD)
• Write Phase I desk study reports and Coal Mining Risk Assessments (CMRAs)
• Prepare health and safety documentation and implement safety standards on site
• Write interpretive reports including Phase II geo-environmental assessments, risk assessments, and geotechnical assessments
• Input, screen, analyse and interpret site data, presenting clear logical arguments
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and suppliers
• Prepare proposals for new work and check/approve subcontractor invoices
• Comply with internal policies, procedures and ISO standards

Skills, Knowledge, and ExpertiseEssential Requirements:

• Approximately 1-3+ years relevant experience
• Undergraduate degree (2:1 or above) in relevant subject (geology, environmental science, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, physical geography etc.)
• Full UK driving licence (manual transmission)
• Good IT skills and competent with MS Office
• Strong work ethic, able to work effectively alone or as part of a team
• Good problem solving skills with ability to adapt and find practical solutions

Desirable:

• Postgraduate degree or Masters in relevant subject
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and Holebase
• Knowledge of remediation strategies and techniques
• Experience with verification of remediation works and preparation of verification reports
• Familiarity with earthworks, materials/waste management, and MMPs under CL:AIRE DoWCoP
• Soil mechanics knowledge and foundation bearing capacity calculations
• Experience liaising with regulators
