The Genitourinary Oncology Research Center (GU-ORC) at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center invites applications for faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level. This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and collaborative scientist to join a nationally recognized multidisciplinary cancer research environment focused on advancing the understanding and treatment of genitourinary malignancies.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant and deeply collaborative scientific community dedicated to accelerating discoveries in GU cancer biology and translating innovative research into meaningful clinical impact.
We are seeking intellectually curious investigators with strong potential to develop independent, extramurally funded research programs that advance the understanding of GU cancer development, progression, therapy resistance, and translational therapeutic discovery.
What You’ll Do
• Develop and maintain an innovative, independent, extramurally funded research program focused on areas broadly relevant to genitourinary cancers
• Conduct impactful laboratory-based and translational research advancing the understanding of GU cancer biology and treatment
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary investigators across GU-ORC and Roswell Park’s clinical and scientific programs
• Utilize advanced technologies, shared resources, and unique clinical specimens to support cutting-edge discovery
• Participate in translational initiatives bridging laboratory science and clinical oncology applications
• Contribute to collaborative research efforts involving genomics, immunology, metabolism, epigenetics, pre-clinical modeling, and precision oncology
• Mentor graduate students, trainees, and emerging investigators within an academic research environment
• Participate in graduate-level teaching and educational activities
• Contribute to scientific seminars, collaborative meetings, and institutional academic initiatives
• Foster a collaborative and intellectually rigorous research culture emphasizing mentorship and innovation
• Engage actively in GU-ORC scientific initiatives and multidisciplinary collaborations
• Contribute to Roswell Park Cancer Center Support Grant programmatic activities
• Build productive partnerships with clinicians, physician-scientists, and laboratory investigators
• Support a culture aligned with High Reliability Organization principles emphasizing scientific excellence, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
About the Department
The Genitourinary Oncology Research Center (GU-ORC) at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is housed within the Department of Urology and is dedicated to accelerating translational discovery in genitourinary cancers through close collaboration between laboratory scientists and clinical investigators. GU-ORC currently includes more than 30 multidisciplinary faculty members studying the cellular, genetic, epigenetic, metabolic, immunologic, ancestral, and behavioral drivers of GU cancer development and therapy resistance.
Roswell Park provides investigators with extensive research infrastructure including more than 20 shared resources offering advanced scientific instrumentation, bioinformatics, genomics technologies, biorepositories, and translational research support.

What You’ll Bring
• PhD or comparable degree in biomedical research, cancer biology, clinical science, or a related field
• Strong potential to develop an independent, extramurally funded research program
• Scientific expertise in areas broadly relevant to genitourinary cancers, including cancer biology, genomics, immunology, metabolism, translational therapeutics, or pre-clinical modeling
• Interest in collaborative translational research and multidisciplinary scientific discovery
• Commitment to graduate-level mentoring, education, and academic engagement
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across scientific and clinical disciplines
• Intellectual curiosity, innovation, and a passion for advancing translational cancer research

Required Education and Experience
Doctoral degree in an appropriate scientific or clinical-based discipline and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience in an applicable scientific or clinical research environment.
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in relevant areas of fundamental cancer biology, genomics technology development applicable to the study of GU cancers, creation and use of pre-clinical GU cancer models, novel approaches for analyzing GU cancer clinical specimens, and/or translation of novel research discoveries to clinical application.
• PHD, or comparable degree in biomedical research and/or clinical science.
