Mō te tūranga | What you’ll be doing

As a Generation Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading a high performing maintenance team in the Mid Waitaki across the iconic Benmore, Aviemore and Waitaki hydro power stations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll build capability, drive standards, and keep generation running safely and reliably.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing maintenance team

  • Be a visible, on-site leader championing safety and quality standards

  • Drive team performance to deliver consistent, reliable generation outcomes

  • Coordinate maintenance delivery and support key projects across the sites

  • Build strong relationships and collaborate with teams locally and nationwide

  • Partner with other Team Leads to deliver a seamless, high-performing operation

Qualifications

We are looking for an exceptional people leader who has an inclusive communication style and leads by example; someone who has the drive and enthusiasm to bring about a change in the way we undertake the management of our assets, while encouraging our staff to think outside the box for innovative and creative ways to ensure the ongoing supply of generation to the market.

You’ll have proven people leaderships skills, with experience in:

  • Coaching, mentoring and identifying professional development opportunities and growth for your team.

  • Experience within the industry is not necessary, but would be an advantage.

Other key skills and experiences include:

  • A strong Health and Safety focus to ensure the wellbeing of all staff

  • Leading and navigating teams through change initiatives

  • Innovative and using creative ways of thinking

  • A natural collaborator who works across organisational boundaries to deliver results

  • Demonstrated ability to build successful relationships with all stakeholders

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
