The opportunity:
Hitachi Energy is seeking a Senior Project Manager for leading the onsite execution of Network Control SCADA EMS Project in Thailand. The Project Manager will serve as the primary onsite project leader and coordinator and will work under the direct supervision of Overall Project Lead Project Manager/Project Director based in Houston Texas. This role requires providing project leadership at the site, coordinating, monitoring, and controlling all site activities, and supporting the lead project manager in various project management tasks, on site client and internal project stakeholder management. Ensure that all related activities are performed in accordance with Hitachi Energy policy, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, financial targets, as well as schedule commitments.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Project Leadership
- Leads the onsite project team including subcontractor, ensuring all project activities align with strategic goals and objectives. Monitoring and control activities for both internal and external resources to accomplish all project goals.
- Health, Safety and Environment (HSE):
- Ensures the project follows and complies with company health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Ensure safe working procedures and practices are always followed including the wearing and maintenance of assigned Personal Protective Equipment as required.
- Attendance required health, safety and environment training.
- Report injury, incidents, hazards and near miss events.
- Model safe work behaviors in all aspects of work and actively identify hazards and risk controls.
- Coordination and Communication:
- Act as the main point of local contact between Client and Hitachi Energy, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
- Planning and Scheduling:
- Defines, jointly with Project Controls department, all project plan documents, including scope and financial plans, schedule and risk management plans.
- Support the Lead Project Manager/Project Director in updating the GPP tool, follow up on design and documentation approval, and manage project reporting.
- Maintain local on-site portion of the GPP tool updated.
- Site Activity Management:
- Coordinate, monitor, and control all site activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Financial Management:
- Oversee invoices and payment follow-up, ensuring financial targets are met. Support Lead Project Manager/Project Director in CTC updates.
- Ensure Project profitability of the local project portion.
- Drive cost optimization ideas in collaboration with Lead Project Manager/Project Director
- Project Execution and Control:
- Ensures that the project follows execution best practices and Hitachi Energy PGGA policies.
- Effectively monitors and controls project progress and efficient resource utilization.
- Monitors project progress and regularly analyzes project critical paths to ensure all critical path activities and project milestones are progressed to the plan, notifies Lead PM/Project Director of any deviations or scheduling issues, and implements actions for optimizing resources.
- Issues progress reports, project updates and productivity data on a regular basis.
- Prepares materials for and delivers project reviews.
- Conducts analysis of plan versus actual project performance under the supervision of the Project Director.
- Monitors and controls project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses and cash flow.
- Manages subcontractor teams and ensures supervision of all subcontracted activities.
- Coordinates with local teams internal or external assigned to the project.
- Monitors, controls, and releases requests for invoices, based on project payment milestones.
- Identifies, qualifies, quantifies and manages project risks, and ensures that all opportunities are identified and pursued.
- Captures, analyzes and shares lessons learned throughout the project.
- Ensures that the project is formally closed out, as contractually agreed.
- Drives the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out and its acknowledgement by the customer.
- Contract, Claims and Procurement Management:
- Ensures that the project consistently applies contract and claims management, in accordance with Hitachi Energy policies and contractual agreements.
- Coordinates with Supply Chain Management, and successfully procures all required services, materials and equipment for the project from external and internal suppliers.
- Supports Supply Chain Management in supplier negotiations, claims and project changes.
- Stakeholder Relations:
- Acts as the key contact for the customer and an escalation point for project issues.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicates with all stakeholders.
- Monitors and maintains various project registers – e.g. project transmittal register, issues & actions register, risk and opportunities register, deliverable & quality register, documentation register, etc.
- Effectively communicates appropriate information to project team, customers and other stakeholders in a timely manner and to achieve desired understanding.
- People Leadership and Development:
- Coaches and provides feedback for project staff.

- Managing complex OT Project with teams spread across three continents.
- Attend meetings in multiple time zones
- Complex project commercial arrangements between Hitachi Energy Thailand and Hitachi Energy international units regarding orders, margins and revenues.
- Building strong relationship with state utility project team including any assigned consultants.
Your background:
Experience:
- Preferably 10+ years as Project Manager in delivery of projects in Electrical Power Grid Automation SCADA EMS/GMS/DMS projects or .and/or Oil & Gas SCADA/DCS/Process Control.
- Education: Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical, Electronics, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communications, or a similar engineering degree.
- Experience in delivery of complex ICT infrastructure projects like Datacenter and Telecommunications Backbone Projects is also desirable.
- Experience working with state owned utilities like EGAT and PEA in Thailand is highly desirable.
- Experience of working for multinational companies in Electrical, Automation, Telecommunication, IT with a matrix structure.
Certification:
- Certified Project Manager (PMP, Prince-2, IPMA, or equivalent).
- Any other relevant project management certification or education.
Knowledge & Skill
- Skills – Proficient with MS Word and MS Excel; Proficient maintaining schedules for projects using recognized project scheduling tools like MS Projects / Primeravers; Proficient organizer; Ability to influence and coordinate stakeholders.
- Fluency in both English and Thai is a must.
