Job Description

• GP positions in Canberra’s only Aboriginal Community Controlled Health service

• Full-time or substantial part-time (4 – 5 days) (Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm)

• $260k - $340k annual salary (negotiable) plus super plus salary packaging

Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health & Community Services (Winnunga AHCS) is Canberra’s only Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service. Located in the heart of Canberra, we deliver trusted, holistic healthcare to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the ACT and surrounding regions. We are seeking experienced and culturally competent General Practitioners to join our multidisciplinary team including GPs, visiting specialists, nurse practitioners, nurses, allied health specialists, social health and admin support.

This exceptionally professional and committed staff member will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Provide comprehensive and culturally competent clinical care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients by integrating physical, social, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with social health, mental health, and AOD teams.
  • Participate in care planning, case conferencing, and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Work in our main clinic and partly at the local prison as part of our dedicated, nation-leading prison program.
  • Maintain highest standards of professional conduct.

We are looking for exceptionally empathetic and resilient person who has:

  • full working rights in Australia
  • fellowship with RACGP or ACRRM
  • specialist registration with AHPRA
  • strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and cultures to ensure culturally safe interactions
  • excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, including GPs, nurses, dietitians, podiatrists, and allied health professionals
  • ability to manage competing priorities effectively with great attention to detail and accuracy
  • deep care for integrity and professionalism in every interaction (internal and external)
