Compensation: £12.29 / hour

As a General Operative at ENVA, based in Toomebridge, you will play a key role in the recycling and processing of Small Domestic Appliances. You will be responsible for handling, sorting, dismantling, and preparing electronic waste for further recycling or disposal, adhering to safety and environmental regulations. This position contributes to ENVA's sustainability efforts by promoting efficient waste management and recycling practices.
This role requires you to work nights and you should have a flexible approach to work.

Key Responsibilities

• Sorting and Handling: Sorting materials such as televisions, computers, mobile phones, and other electronic devices to ensure they are directed to the correct recycling streams.
• Dismantling and Processing: Safely dismantle electronic equipment, removing components like cables, circuit boards, and batteries for proper recycling.
• Machine Operation: Operate shredding, baling, and other processing machinery, ensuring proper and efficient operation to maximize recycling output.
• Quality Control: Inspect and assess incoming SDA materials to ensure compliance with recycling standards and company requirements.
• Safety and Compliance: Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations. Report any safety concerns or equipment malfunctions immediately.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members and supervisors to meet daily production targets, supporting overall operational efficiency.
• Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organized working environment, ensuring work areas are free of hazards.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Previous experience in a recycling or waste management environment
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to recycling.
• Mechanical aptitude or experience in dismantling electronic equipment is advantageous.
• Ability to operate machinery or willingness to be trained.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to following safety protocols.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding role, including lifting and moving equipment.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
