Main Responsibilities


 To assist construction craftworkers with a variety of tasks.
 Continuously inspect the designated work area for any potential fire risks, ensuring that conditions remain safe during and after work activities.
 To carry and change the empty cartridges with the full ones, such as gas cylinders.
 Verify that fire prevention measures, such as the availability of fire extinguishers and clear access to emergency exits, are in place and functional.
 To carry tools, welding machines, consumables and materials or help set up equipment.
 Supervise tasks such as welding, cutting, or other activities that may generate sparks or high heat, ensuring adherence to safety regulations
 Shall ensure that a "zero harm" approach is taken in relation to all his acts and omissions in relation to the services and the project. Acknowledges that due to the nature of the project, nuclear safety and security are of paramount importance.
 Record findings from fire watch patrols and inspections, reporting any unsafe conditions or incidents promptly.
 Clearly direct vehicles and mobile plant at all times ensuring they are kept separate, and
 pedestrians are safe.
 Minimize the amount of reversing where possible and be aware of the dangers caused when
 reversing
 Use practical techniques and agreed system of signaling and hand signals to assist drivers and
 operatives in all maneuvers
 Always be visible to drivers whilst directing vehicles and plant
 Control access/egress to an exclusion zone and/or a controlled zone and prevents
 unauthorised pedestrian access into those zones
 Stand in a safe position, from which to guide all vehicles without being in the way
 Ensure zonal safe working arrangements are being adhered to and maintained. Must always
 work from a position of safety.
 Always communicate clearly and effectively on the radio.
 Follow all safety procedures, regulations, and site-specific requirements to maintain a secure work environment.
 Conduct regular patrols to monitor high-risk areas during and after work activities, ensuring the worksite remains free from ignition risks.
 Agrees to comply with any rule, instruction or requirement of the Company in relation to the services which the company determines, in his sole and absolute discretion, is necessary in order for the company to comply with his obligations under the nuclear site license.
 Housekeeping of the work areas; collection, segregation and disposal of wastes as required; removal of unused materials and clear the work floors to eliminate/reduce slipping or tripping risks in your work area.
 Safe use, protection, storage and care of general maintenance products, hand and power tools


You must:


 Take care of your own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by what you do (or do not do);
 Co-operate with others on health and safety, and not interfere with, or misuse, anything provided for your health, safety or welfare;
 Follow the training you have received when using any work items your employer has given you.
 While the employee does not conduct inspections, they are required to participate in scheduled inspections of void covers and related temporary materials. This includes supporting inspection activities, staying informed of findings, and assisting in the implementation of any required corrective actions.
 The employee is responsible for the fabrication, maintenance, and repair of temporary void covers and associated temporary works materials used to secure structural openings. Responsibilities include manufacturing covers from raw materials, repairing or replacing damaged components, applying protective coatings, and installing compliant signage to ensure correct and safe use. All work must comply with technical documentation and production standards, with any deviations reported to supervisors.


General Conditions


 Have minimum 2 years of work experience.
 Physical strength, fitness and dexterity, as they often have to lift heavy tools and machines or work at elevated heights.
 Working Level English
 CPCS Plant and Vehicle Marshall Training A73 or NPORS equivalent
 CCNSG Safety Passport
 Have HSO Bronze and UK Accredited Firewatcher Course (Mandatory)
 Can achieve Security Clearance (BPSS) and Safety Critical exam
 Hold or Can achieve CCNSG Safety Passport
