Consumer and Commercial Division

General Members Part-time (sessional)

The Attorney General is seeking expressions of interest from qualified persons for appointment to the following role within the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal:

General Members (Part-time (sessional) Consumer and Commercial Division) under the Civil and Administrative Tribunal Act 2013 (job reference number 81775).

To be eligible for appointment applicants must meet the relevant legal or expertise requirements for the role.

  • General Members must be Australian lawyers with at least 3 years’ standing, or have special knowledge, skill or in areas the CCD deals with, such as residential tenancies, home building disputes, strata and community schemes, retail or commercial leasing, or consumer and fair‑trading matters.

All applicants should have strong communication skills and be able to work effectively and cooperatively with others. Successful candidates will also demonstrate sound judgment, the ability to run hearings efficiently, and a commitment to procedural fairness.

There are several Senior Member and General Member roles available. Unless a specific duty location is stated for a particular role, the position’s location is negotiable across the NCAT network. Potential workplaces include Sydney CBD, Penrith, Liverpool, Tamworth, Newcastle, Wollongong, and Parramatta. Travel between locations may also be required from time to time to meet operational needs.
